U.S. Navy Strikefighter: F-14 TOMCAT


This was a Mach-0.98 "haircut" taken at Navy Dare Range July '00. Thanks to Ken Litton for keeping his eyes in the viewfinder while the rest of us enjoyed this screamer. One of the photographers actually fell off the bench he was filming on during this flyby. The elapsed time from spotting this on the horizon to getting our heart stopped was about 5 seconds, and this was at less than half of the Tomcat's possible top speed. Impressive.
