How to Get Involved!

There are two ways to get involved with the 2nd Virginia Regiment.

1.  War of 1812 Re-enactorThis class of members dresses in clothing from the time of the War of 1812    and educates the public by portraying military personnel and civilians from the War of 1812.  They may also educate the public through lectures  and Living History programs about the War of 1812 time period, explaining the significance of War of 1812 sites, and assisting with War of 1812 events.  Periodically the unit will attend reenactments either inside Virginia or out of state.

Reenactors may portray Virginia Militia, US Regulars, Naval personel or Civilans. 

2.  Historian This class of members educates the public through lectures and Living History programs about the War of 1812 time period, explaining the significance of War of 1812 sites, and assisting with War of 1812 events.

Members can register as individuals or families.  Individual membership is $2 per year and family membership is $5.  Membership fees for the following year may be waived after 6 hours of docent service at Fort NorfolkAll members will be asked to participate in the tour program at Fort Norfolk during the summer months or during unit sponsored events at the fort or other locations.  This is not mandatory but a "best effort" is expected.
