Title: Cold Quiet Aftermath

Jane, Shane and Tod seat themselves at the far side of the bar. Jake stands
before them and asks, "What's to drink? How about a warm beer or maybe
somethin' to eat?" he asks solemnly.

"It's sure quiet here tonight. The place seems abandoned or something. Where
are all the regulars?" Shane asks, looking all around.
"It was the excitement last night, and the cops were here today. It's usually
like this after a shooting or bad fight, especially when we've had a visit from
the Man," Jake explains.
"Cops been here? Nuthin' going on here! We gotta split, ya know?" Tod says,
and starts to stand. Jane casually points at him, hardly looking at him, and
he promptly sits back down on his bar stool.

Shane says, "I thought maybe there had been some sort of a hecatomb of bikers,
like some sort of massive run ending up at the bottom of a cliff or something.
It's so quiet around here!" Shane chuckles but no one else cracks a smile.

"Nope, just a slow an' easy night. I'm in the middle of cleanin' the
kitchen, and I'm servin' leftovers..."

Jane stands, points at some water creeping beneath the kitchen door, and
says, "Looks like something's erupting in there. Is your dishwasher acting
up again?"
Jake rushes over to the door, reaches down and touches the trickle of water.
Drawing his hand back quickly he exclaims, "It's ice cold! Oh no, it's the
deep freeze. I forgot to turn the power back on!"
Jake opens the door and an ankle-deep freshet flows over the metal floors,
and splashes its way into and under the bar.
