Title: Old family friend
I turn Sis who is sitting next to me at the bar and ask her,
"So Azi, he who never stands still but has stood still, is your most beloved
Achates? "Where did you two meet?"
Sis laughs quietly, puts her arm around Azi's shoulders and answers, "I think
Azi and Bell knew each other before we were born, right Azi?"
Azi looks at me, pauses, and responds, "We have known each other, the
three of us, for many years - all your lives."
"I don't remember... Sorry," I say. "Are you a regular here at the Owl?"
Azi opens his mouth to comment, seems to reconsider what he's about to say,
turns back to his drink and says quietly, "Sis's target is aroused and will be
here shortly. This man, Bud, or Louis as I know him, is not an Apollonian
fellow. He wishes closure. It will be," he says to Sis, "..a challenge."
Bud rises, kicks his chair back, and strides purposefully toward us.
