Title: Jane's edict
"What you shakin' your head at, old man? You don't think I can take this
here little woman down and make her scream with pleasure?" Bus asks loudly
enough so most of the inhabitants of the Owl Buffet can hear him. He guffaws
for emphasis.
Azi's response is a subtle smile which emphasizes his weathered, tanned, face.
The crow's feet around his eyes and the wrinkles around his neck remind Bud
(for some inexplicable reason) of the pluvial washes near the cotton farm where
he works.
"You wanna create bedlam in here, Bud?" Jane asks, as she sits at the bar next
to Azi. "Stop messin' with Sis or you're going to have ALL of us stompin' on
your pitiful skinny ass."
Bud is suddenly on his feet as a vision of the clamorous dusty hot separator in
the cotton gin is flashed onto his consciousness.
