Title: Grapevine to Glamis...

Glamis, California. Northeast of El Centro, east of Brawley. Land of sand
dunes with a two-lane paved highway dividing people dunes from the BLM
protected dunes. One weekend, on our way to Elyssium, another of my
biker-bars in Brawley, Sis and I biked through Glamis during a
dune buggy meet. There were, we found out later, over 30.000
visitors that day, all with dune buggies and bikes, runnin'
the dunes. It was wierd seeing one side of the road
buzzing with big-wheeled dune buggies, bikes, and
campers, and the other side completely quiet
and untouched, with pristine eolian
ripples of sand stretching as far
as we could see; no tire
tracks, footprints,
or vehicles,
only
sand.

The librarian and I are in Glamis now, but I'm NOT sure how we got here.
"What are we doing HERE?" I ask the librarian.
"It's where we ended up after your conversation with your friend, Azi."
"Azi? Sis's friend? In Gila Bend?"
"At Fort Tejon on the Grapevine. He told you he would be our cicerone
and that you'd find vengence in the dunes. Last night, remember?"
"No... Did you speak to Azi, at Fort Tejon?"
"Yeah, he bought me a beer, told me to ride with you, to the dunes. So,
here we are, Boss. You Ok?"
