Title: Flight from Goliath
"I was the sphinx and then I was Goliath."
The moonlight which shines through the small makeshift window of Azi's shack
reflects off his eyes and burns boredom into mine.
He has made the circle when he says,
"My first contact with myself came just after several personalities made
themselves available to me. They said, 'come, take me into your arms and
fold me over. I'm yours.'"
He takes another deep draw from the pipe, looks to Sis and asks her,
"Shall I go with Bell? She has asked me to accompany her on a RV trip
across the continent."
Repressing laughter, Sis responds, "Will you go as the Spinx or as Goliath?"
"As the roadrunner. I'm part of the wing." He responds, lost again, rocking,
his reverie once again taking his awareness back inside.
Sis looks to me, her thoughts are dancing, chaotic, saturated with the smoke
of jimson and peyote, but wieldly. She says, without speaking aloud,
"Don't forget, brother, this is evitable. We are not bound. We are
free to go."
I nod in assent. Time to fly. Leave Azi to his own reality circles and Bell,
if they will have each other.
As we leave the shack I hear his voice call out, "Harley? One more thing..."
The roar of our Hogs shatter the chilly moonlit silences of the deep desert.
