Title: Yates' request
"So ... you know, don't you, that Jean - that's what she
asked me to call her - is working for me now? Do you
two see each other once in awhile? Still car pooling?"
Yates invited me to lunch today. He said he wanted to
get together again to discuss security issues. I suspect
that he actually wants to query me about Sis. He has
put her into a key position, one which is privy to secure and
proprietary information. Should I protect him?
"We are car pooling until I get another vehicle. My car
blew up and someone has ... borrowed my bike."
"Jean does good work. I'm wondering if she has any
outside interests which might conflict with her
position at the Center? She's going to be on call, and
some of her time might be spent accompanying me
on those quarterly conferences in D.C."
"She's open to almost anything and
is interested in the work. Her only 'conflict' might be
an occasional poker-run on weekends, but
other than that...."
"Does she have anyone else in her life right now?
Not that it has anything to do with work, but ... well,
you know she's an attractive young woman, and..."
"Hmmm, I see." With a smile and a kidding tone I ask,
"What are YOUR interests, Yates? Are you gonna let
your private affairs and work mess you up again?
"Ha, my PRIvate affairs. Ginger and I are living in
separate but equal apartments these days. Her affairs
are beyond private. She tells me she needs a social
life, without MY meddling. I've even considered uxori-
cide! I can't take her anywhere anymore because her
billingsgate manners turn everyone off! Last week we
had to leave a Microsoft/Apple conference early because
she made such a spectacle of herself."

"As far as I know Sis, I mean Jeannie, JEAN, is not
otherwise involved. All I can say is be careful though. She's
very defensive about relationships and will not hesitate
to protect herself from being hurt."
"Thanks for that. Say, maybe Doris and Sis and You
and I can get together sometime..."
Thursday.
You'll get this Friday so ... have a great one
and don't forget to venture out on the weekend!
luv ya,
de
