Title: Asleep Falling

In a dark incubus
        I pose atop a cliff,
                do a carless capriole
                        and the height below
                                tightens my gluteus maxi-moes.

Still, I'm stepping off
        not looking to leap
                thinking to drift
                        thinking (zenlike)
                                of the trip downward.

I wake to perihelion-like brightness,
        with uncomplimentary images of myself
                having fallen to the beach,
without the dimple of a crater,
my parts scattered like tektitic beads.

The sound of BIKERS' beneath the floor
        excoriate layers of sleep,
alpha rhythms beat me to my feet
as nightmares of falling to my death
fade back into the mists of dreamstuff.

Dreams come true; without that possibility,
nature would not incite us to have them.
