Title: Vern victorious!
"Yer back, Doooood!" B.J. greets Vern as he enters BIKERS'. "Hey, man, I
heard you did it again! Ya won the Shale Trail event. Nice goin'!"
Vern sits beside B.J. at the bar, says, "Ahhhhh," as Jake places an iced
Veg Broth in front of him, takes a sip, "Thanks Beej. It was too close this
year. Th' hill got a couple new wrinkles innit, ya know that one strip near the
top?" B.J. affirms, nods anxiously, listening, as Vern continues,
"Nearly lost it right there but I readjusted, got a foot down, pushed and
suddenly saw a quicker azimuth upward. Both wheels grabbed a teeny bit of
terra-firma which pushed me over the top. Best time ever."
"Yeah!" B.J. lightly slaps Vern on the shoulder. Vern smiles, nips his broth.
Enter Kitty.
Vern immediately notices her,
their eyes meet, Vern rises slightly,
Kit pauses, takes a tentative step toward Vern.
B.J. follows Vern's gaze to Kit, looks back to Vern and slowly moves his head,
like a smiling beaming occultation, between and interrupting Kit's and Vern's
gazes.
"Hey!" Vern barks as he stands and pushes B.J.'s head aside. "No blockin' the
view, man."

The moment of victory is much too short
to live for that and nothing else.
