Title: Time lapse

Henry is standing at the entrance to the Center, waiting
for me. He is, as usual, nervously pacing, biting his
fingernails, and asks, "How are you feeling? Think
you can survive a security meeting?"

"I'm fine. Which conference room are we in, #3?"

"Yes, #3." He pauses as we walk up the stairs, "Looks like this
is your meat. No one has ever been this close, ya know?"

"That's what you told me. Any ideas about who might have done
the deed? Have you and Ron discussed this yet?"

"No, except he said that there was basically no penetration of the
2nd layer."

"Right, so the only files and materials probed were the first layer
decoy system. Looks like this attempt was by someone with
fairly sophisticated machinery."
"Yes, the first layer's really beefed up. I'm not sure anyone
else knew about it, unless some vendor, maybe during installation,
peeked at your implanted Discrete Organic Codes... although
you were so persnickety about secrecy I don't think anyone
has any idea where to start the tracing."

"Exactly. Anyway how could anyone come up with anything
in such a short time. We've only been up-and-running for
a week or so, right?"

Henry glanced at me, wrinkled brow, a bit surprised I guess.
"8 weeks, closer to 9. Remember, you activated the system
just before you were involved in the car explosion?"
He's pulling a notebook/calendar from his inside coat pocket,
thumbs through it (as we walk toward Conference
Room #3, side-by-side, and in-step) and stops when
he finds what he's apparently looking for.
"According to my vademecum, it was exactly 10 weeks
ago, today."
