Title: Ron's domain
"No, I plan to donate it to the Athenaeum, in La Jolla. They
have agreed to take measures to preserve it as well as make
it available to scholars, and of course, to me." Ron is
literally beaming over his recent acquisition.
ath.e.nae.um or ath.e.ne.um n [L Athenaeum, a school in ancient Rome for
the study of arts, fr. Gk Athenaion, a temple of Athena, fr. Athene]
"It must have put you back a bit in the way of money, even
though you got such a good deal, right Ron?"
"Ahhh, right. Yes, it took most of my savings, but I got it.
It's only second, though, to my first love and lifelong purpose..."
"Ah yes, your religion and adherence to the Good Book. I've
never been able to understand your bibliolatrous bent!"
bib.li.ol.a.ter n (1847) 1: one having excessive reverence for the
letter of the Bible 2: one overly devoted to books -- bib.li.ol.a.trous
adj -- bib.li.ol.a.try n
As I speak, I'm seating myself at the terminal situated at
the head of the conference table and keying into my
system. Maybe I can figure out what I'm doing here and
what it is that's bothering me about all this.
"You're an anomaly, Ron. You bring together the world of
religion and hardassed computer science all in one person!
Now, let's get started on this -- problem."
Just as I finish my sentence a large pile of magazines topple
to the floor. All three of us are a bit nervous about something
because we all jump.
"Ron, are you a bibliopegist too?"
bib.li.op.e.gy n [ultim. fr. Gk bibli- + pegnynai to fasten together
--more at pact] (ca. 1859): the art of binding books -- bib.li.o.pe.gic
adj -- bib.li.op.e.gist n
"It would appear that this bibliotheca needs a bibliopolistic,
bibliotern bibliomaniac like yourself!"
We are all chuckling, nervously.
hmmmmm, Today is Thursday again.
Love ya!
