Title: Oscar sounds off

Claire was drunk.  Joey was high and drunk.  Every time
Claire would say something Joey would disagree and
each time Joey would speak Claire would get louder.
It was like two Xanthippites squabbling at a very irritating
frequency!!

Xan.thip.pe or Xan.tip.pe n [Gk Xanthippe, shrewish wife of
  Socrates] (1691): an ill-tempered woman .

Everyone in Bikers migrated closer to the piano hoping
Oscar's playing would be loud enough to drown out the
grating sounds of high-pitched, shrieking, senseless discord.
Claire and Joey continued to yell and argue.
Suddenly Oscar stopped playing, stood up on his piano bench,
 threw his head back and began a soft high-toned howl.
Everyone was quiet, no metal forks on metal trays, no
sounds from the kitchen, only the voices of Joey and Claire
babbling away in the background.  Oscar's lycantropic howl

crescendoed into a loud shrilly scream and
the blood vessels stood out on his forehead, his
face turning darker and darker red.  Joey and Claire stopped
their diatribe with each other and sat, dumbfounded watching
Oscar as he howled and wailed at the top of his voice.
