Title: Vern joins the fray
There were 30 people in Bikers, all silent, watching Oscar
as he stood on his piano bench howling away. Vern, who
was sitting at the table nearest the piano, stood, threw his
head back, and joined the uvulation, harmonizing, adding
a lower register to the already melodic refrain.
ul.u.late vi -lat.ed ; -lat.ing [L ululatus, pp. of ululare, of imit.
origin] (1623): howl, wail -- ul.u.la.tion n.
Within a period of 3 minutes, everyone in Bikers was standing,
howling, pulsating as if solemnizing some sort of event. The
sound became mournful. Outside, passersby, both afoot and
in vehicles stopped and listened as Bikers Heavy Metal Bar
vibrated and pulsated.
