Title: Sunglass trophy

"I'm afraid of you, Sis. How do I know you won't turn on me
sometime when you're REALLY incensed In fact, how have you
held back? We've had disputes, to say the least!"

"Disputes. Yeah, that's an understatement! Don't worry, I've
tried to deal with you a couple of times --
and you seem to be impervious to, uhh, me or my ... ability,
my attempts were simply desultory.."

des.ul.to.ry adj [L desultorius, lit., of a circus rider who leaps from
horse to horse, fr. desilire to leap down, fr. de- + salire to leap--more
at sally] (1581) 1: marked by lack of definite plan, regularity, or
purpose 2:
not connected with the main subject 3: disappointing in progress or
performance: sluggish -- des.ul.to.ri.ly adv -- des.ul.to.ri.ness n

"You've tried? You've tried to do WHAT?"
I've never considered that Sis could actually want to really
hurt me, although she gets pretty cold, even inimical
sometimes...

"Oh, never anything serious -- just once in a while I've
tried to give you a little .. push..." Sis seems embarassed.
In fact she's not making much eye-contact during this tense
and difficult conversation. I'm, again, surprised,
"What? What are you talking about? A little 'push'?"

"When I was younger, especially. I never could quite out-
muscle you when we wrestled, remember?
*pip vt pipped ; pip.ping [prob. fr. pip to blackball, fr. pip or
pip] (1880) Brit: to beat by a narrow margin .

And then there's Harley - a couple times I wanted Harley and tried
to keep you off or away by twisting your ankle or something."

Sis put my twisted sunglasses, the ones Yates ruined with his death-
grip, on the shelf near the bike pedal and the torn tennis shoe, and asked,
looking me straight in the eye,
"Have YOU ever tried to 'push' anyone without touching them?"

Have a great day. The week's runnin' out so you better hurry and
get ready for the next one!

luv ya,
d.
