FOOD PREPARATION IN THE TEMPLE

Brethren, the Norfolk Masonic Temple Superintendent, Worshipful Gary Gouge, is reminding all of the Brethren that anyone working in the Temple kitchen must have a Virginia Department of Health "Food Handler's Card".  This card is issued after attending a Food Handler's Training session offered by the local Department of Health jurisdictions (cost for the session is $10.00), and which is valid for two years.  Possession of the Health Card and compliance with the VDH food safety regulations is required to work in the kitchen, even for Brethren that are preparing Lodge refreshments.

The health authorities may inspect our building and if they find a violation of the health rules, they can fine the Temple and/or shut down the operation of the kitchen.  It is important that Brethren involved in the preparation of food at the Temple obtain the health card and follow the State regulations.
