BY-LAWS NORFOLK LODGE NO. 1 A.F.& A.M. NORFOLK, VIRGINIA
ARTICLE I The Stated Communication of Norfolk Lodge No.1, A.F. & A.M. shall be held at the Masonic Temple, 7001 Granby Street, Norfolk, Virginia on the evening of the first Thursday in each month at seven-thirty o'clock P.M., except the Annual Stated Communication which shall be held on the first Thursday in December at five o'clock P.M.
ARTICLE II _ Every member of this Lodge, except the Treasurer, Secretary and Tiler shall be charged by the Secretary with the sum of Fifty-five Dollars ($55.00) per year dues, plus Grand Lodge assessments and Masonic Temple Corporation assessments, effective January 1, 2009. Additionally the Lodge shall raise the dues per Federal Government CPI figures each year based on the last years CPI.
ARTICLE III The fees for degrees in this lodge shall be Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) payable as follows: Seventy-Five Dollars ($75.00) shall accompany the petition; Fifty Dollars ($50.00) shall be presented prior to receiving the Degree of Entered Apprentice; Fifty Dollars ($50.00) shall be presented prior to receiving the Degree of Fellowcraft; and Twenty-Five Dollars ($25.00) shall be presented prior to receiving the Degree of Master Mason.
ARTICLE IV _ The Treasurer shall receive an annual compensation equivalent to the sum of one dollar ($1.00) per member, as determined by the membership roles on January 1st of each year. The compensation shall be paid in two (2) equal installments, on March 1st and September 1st of the year the Treasurer holds office.
ARTICLE V The Secretary shall receive an annual compensation equivalent to the sum of three dollars ($3.00) per member, as determined by the membership on the roles on January 1st of each year. This compensation shall be paid in two (2) equal installments, on March 1st and September 1st of the year the Secretary holds office.
ARTICLE VI _ The Tiler, or Acting Tiler, shall receive a compensation of five ($5.00) dollars for every Stated or Called Communication of Norfolk Lodge No. 1 at which he performs this duty; payable at the December Annual Stated Communication.
ARTICLE VII _ The Three (3) Trustees, who shall be recommended by the Lodge and appointed by the Court having jurisdiction, shall at each Annual Stated Communication in December make a report of the investment of all funds and condition of property entrusted to their care.
ARTICLE VIII Any amendment proposed to these by-laws must be submitted in writing at a Stated Communication, lie over the required four weeks, the membership be notified, and shall require a two-thirds (2/3) affirmative vote of the members present for its adoption.
