Anti-HUM

HUM is an acronym for H ighly U nusual M ethods.  These are written defenses to Mid-Chart Conventions.  I believe both partners are allowed to read these defenses when the bids are made.

Bid Other bids are natural, including bid of the trial suit.
2 Pass Pass ?
  • Supposedly, responder wants to play 2 .
  • 3 is some kind of cue.
  • Fourth seat might be lighter.
  • The meaning of double is questionable as you won't necessarily have support for both majors.  You can have any two or three suits, and with a good hand you might have only one suit.
