Day 1: Onion Valley to Rae Lakes via Kearsarge and Glen Passes - 12 miles
| Crossing Kearsarge Pass opens up fantastic views to the west, including the Kearsarge Lakes which have good, but popular, campsites.
| Bullfrog Lake was a popular campsite in the past and is now closed to camping.
| Charlotte Lake is a popular campsite located one mile west of and 350 feet below the John Muir Trail.
| There are a few small tarns between Charlotte Lake and the lakes south of Glen Pass that have camping possibilities for small groups. The larger lakes shown on the map have very poor camping.
| The final switchbacks up Glen Pass (northbound) look intimidating, but if you take it easy you're soon on top.
| The beauty of Rae Lakes is quite famous,
| ...as is the view from Glen Pass looking north.
| From the top, it's quite a drop to the lakes.
Day 2: Rae Lakes to near Twin Lakes and the Sawmill Pass Trail via Woods Creek - 11 miles
| "How's Glen Pass?" Well, it's a pass. Not easy, but very doable.
| This is the view from the main campsites on the short peninsula on the east side of middle Rae Lakes. They're a short distance off the trail where the sign says "Food storage box".
| More of Rae Lakes grandeur.
| Heading north from Rae Lakes.
| The views continue heading north to Arrowhead Lake.
| The high country shows a lot of glacial polish.
| The beautiful suspension bridge at Woods Crossing.
| Going across the suspension bridge. Sorta like Indiana Jones but quite safe.
| Camp that night was 5 miles from anyone else and had spectacular views.
| I only saw one deer this trip - and no bears.
| Home sweet home.
Day 3: Twin Lakes/Sawmill Trail junction to Taboose Pass trailhead via Pinchot and Taboose Passes - 17 miles
| Looking at the southern side of Pinchot Pass.
The trail goes up the lower ridge in the left foreground before climbing to the ridge.
| Looking south from Pinchot Pass
| Looking north from Pinchot Pass
| Marjorie Lake
| Looking north towards Upper Basin
| Taboose Pass from the west. It was just getting ready to rain (all afternoon).
| Looking north towards Upper Basin and Mather Pass (last year's trip).
| Looking west from Taboose Pass.
| Looking west from Taboose Pass towards Bench Lake and Arrow Peak.
