I went back to tech school, in Biloxi, after the 567th for
approach radar. Then it was off to the 1916th AFCS at Pease AFB,
Portsmouth NH. It was another nice place to be stationed. Only about an
hour from Boston, not far to the mountains and very close to the ocean.
A much smaller squadron, I guess we were a tenant on the SAC base.
When I got out in 1968, I put my electronics training to good use and
went to work for Burroughs Corp. where I stayed until 1989. I
worked mainly on large main frames for the first 7 years and got into
management. I was able to get promoted without having to move by
shifting back and forth between Baltimore and Washington. My last
assignment was a third level manager covering all of the governments
sites in a four state area and Washington DC.
Along the way, in 1970, I married Diane and over the next seven
years we had three
children, Michele, Greg and Rob.
In 1989, I decided to volunteer for one of the many lay-offs that
Burroughs (UNISYS at that time) was having and try my hand at real
estate. It was something that I always had an interest in but thought
it was a little risky to switch to an all commission job. It has worked
out very well, financially and satisfaction wise. During this
second career all three kids got married to fantastic spouses,
we've been blessed with 4 grand children and have one on the way in
April and we still haven't moved. Diane is still teaching, same grade,
same school for 22 years. As my sons graduated from college they came
in the business with me and have done very well. Our web site is www.teamkinnear.com.
I've slowed down a little lately and have been pursuing other
interest. I do some volunteer work at the B&O railroad museum. www.borail.org. Unfortunately
a large snow storm last February
collapsed the roof of the round house and the museum has been closed.
They hope to re-open at the end of the year. I collect pinball
machines and have season tickets to the Orioles. I just started doing
stained glass in the last year or so.
