The Age "Get Some Go Again" review

From The Age (Melbourne newspaper) (4 out of 5 stars)

"What Jack Kerouac did for the Beat writers, Henry Rollins is doing for rock.  In the opening track, Illumination, Rollins paints his innermost feelings of isolation, using his travels as the backdrop.  The album is an exploration of sorts, Rollins again assuming the role of literary minstrel with ease, despite his rigid lyrical habit.  With the help of Mother Superior (an LA rock band), he builds a platform to display his sweet affection for pure rock music.  Whether it’s the flat-out rhythm machine of the title track Get Some Go Again or the roaring blues of Love’s So Heavy, it’s not hard to detect MC5 and Black Sabbath influences.  Thinking Cap is akin to a stoner anthem, and on I Go Day Glo he maintains a punk angst perfected in Black Flag.  Earlier Rollins Band influences come to the fore in On the Day.  Rasping lyrics and buzzing rock licks makes this a sweaty comeback for rock’n’roll’s passionate control freak."
