Legal Advocacy Fund (LAF) ~

The AAUW Legal Advocacy Fund, established in 1981, provides funding and support to women fighting discrimination in higher education. Support is provided through case support, campus outreach, a network of volunteer attorneys and social scientists, and through the Progress in Equity Award.

The Tustin Branch supports LAF through annual fund and "fun" raising events, such as our Annual Wine Tasting. Funds raised support students, faculty, staff and administrators in higher education who challenge discriminatory practices such as sexual harassment, denial of tenure or promotion, pay inequity, and inequality in women's athletics programs.

Current LAF supported cases in California include: Christina Grudzinski v UC Irvine Medical Center, Carol Mandell v Regents of the University of California-Davis.  For a complete news on LAF plaintiffs visit the online version of LAF Update published nationally.
