I am
writing to you because – as an American – I am VERY concerned about our
country’s direction, and believe that we must go to the polls this November
and fire all of those in Washington who have forgotten the working Americans and
their families. I believe it is imperative that we get BUSH out of office!
The Bush Administration lied about weapons of mass destruction, has used the
tragedy of 9/11 to foster fear in Americans and hatred of other religions and
traditions instead of working to equalize economic opportunities or promote
human rights.
He
has gutted most programs that would benefit average Americans by de-funding
them, and instead, gave tax cuts to the wealthy. We now have a huge deficit, and
talks of cutting Social Security and other social welfare programs aimed at the
working people of our country. The current administration declared war on Iraq.
By their actions, they have also declared war on the middle class and the
working people as a whole. His blatant redistribution of wealth to the select
and elite is unforgivable and infuriating. We are in danger of losing our 40
hour work week, overtime pay, educational benefits, school programs and many
other benefits we Americans have taken for granted since Franklin D. Roosevelt
and the New Deal changed the hopes of working people in this country.
Our
media is owned by a few powerful companies and have been using censorship of the
airwaves and print media. Our civil liberties are being threatened, and
the constitution is being ignored. The Democratic party finally found its
backbone after Governor Dean finally said what many American's were
wondering. Why have our elected officials have been sitting so silently?
If given a choice between a few hundred dollars tax rebate, or a national health
care program for children, which choice do you think most of us would
make?
Not
so, the current administration. They apparently would have us believe that
we are better off today than we were four years ago. Are you? He thinks
tax cuts for the rich while gutting social programs and protections are what we
want. Family, community, compassion and social morality and responsibility must
once again be the most important of goals for us as a nation. We must place our
priorities in line with humanity, instead of corporate profit and those who
represent them. Here in Arizona, our only voice in Washington is Ed Pastor; we
need to re-elect him and fire everyone else. Please go and vote. This is our
right, and our duty, if we wish to remain a free society. There is no excuse for
being too busy, or soon we will be silenced and forgotten.

neighbor,
