FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Trust to Benefit CBR Health Research

July 23, 2001 -- Our dogs are our daily companions. They fill our lives and are constant in their ability to fulfill us. In return, we do our best to care for and protect them, but our companions are never with us long enough. Dogs get sick.

Today, canine health research is virtually exploding with breakthrough after breakthrough. The genetic and nutritional components of disease are rapidly becoming more accepted and understood. These are exciting times.

Now, American Chesapeake Club (ACC) members and friends can play an important role in providing research that will ultimately help members of our chosen breed to live longer, healthier and more active lives through the club's Charitable Trust. Donations, memorial gifts, commemoratives and bequeathed remembrances to the Trust can all be earmarked for important health research into areas that have been found to affect Chesapeake Bay Retrievers (CBR's).

"The (ACC) Health Committee is currently reviewing various research studies being done around the country. We are looking at projects that are working on practical management of various health problems that occur fairly commonly in Chesapeakes," said Sue Cone, health committee chairperson.

"We've come across some interesting projects that may have merit, and will be looking at them very closely before we decide if they warrant our financial support," she added.

In addition to health research, individual donations to the Trust can also be designated for education, rescue or the Trust's general fund, which allows donations to be used for any project within the trust in need of additional funding.

The ACC Charitable Trust is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All donations are tax deductible.

Recently, the Trust was privileged to receive several sizable donations. As the number of donations increase, plans call for recognizing donors in the ACC Bulletin.

It is the health of our dogs that will ultimately dictate the successful survival of the CBR as a thriving breed. Help to secure the health of your present and future Chesapeake friends. Make a donation to the ACC Charitable Trust today.
