ACIDSTAMP FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
PO BOX 3851
Omaha NE 68103-0851
USA
acidstamp@cox.netNo, we never end auctions early or offer Buy It Now prices. We allow all auctions to run their course.
2. Will you reveal your reserve?
No, we do not reveal reserves under any circumstances.
3. Do you charge a packing/handling fee or just actual shipping?
There is a packing fee to cover the costs of materials and labor. Some items will need to be packed by a professional service (especially furniture or especially expensive items), other items we pack ourselves. The amount of the packing fee changes based on the difficulty of packing the item and the amount of materials required to secure it for safe shipment. A small non-fragile item will only have a small fee, a fragile or large item will have a larger fee.
4. Is insurance mandatory?
Insurance is mandatory for all packages. The totals we send after the auction include insurance.
5. I am an international bidder, will you declare my item as a “GIFT” or lower the "Declared Value" for customs purposes ?
We will not declare any item as a GIFT. Everything must be declared as MERCHANDISE, and all items must be insured. We can insure (and declare) your item for any amount you like, but in the event of loss or damage, we can only file a claim for the insured value.
6. If I retract my bid on one item, can I bid on another item?
If you retract a bid for what we deem to be frivolous reasons, we may bidder-block you from placing future bids. For example, if you retract a bid because you've entered the wrong bid amount, you should immediately re-bid the correct intended amount. Otherwise we will assume that you are merely trying to learn or expose our reserve or learn the current high-bidder's high bid, and we won't hesitate to block you from bidding on this and all auctions of ours in the future.
7. What happens if I don’t pay for an item I win?
If you are the winning bidder of one of our items, we expect to hear from you within a week of receiving your total, and we expect full payment within two weeks of the auction end date. If we do not hear from you within a week, or if we do not receive payment within two weeks, we file a dispute with eBay. (multiple non-paying bidder alerts can result in suspension by Ebay - see user agreement). At this time, Ebay will send you a message reminding you to pay for your purchase. If the total is not paid within ten days after filing the dispute, we file to have our final value fees refunded to our account. At this time we will block you from bidding on any of our auctions in the future via Ebay’s Bidder-Block feature.
8. If I missed bidding on your item and I see the reserve was not met, can I ask what the reserve price was?
Yes, please write us at acidstamp@cox.net and we will let you know what the reserve price was on the item and whether or not we plan to relist it.
9. What is your return policy?
We offer a 100% Satisfaction GUARANTEE on all the items we list. To qualify for the refund you must notify us you are returning your purchase within three days of receiving the item. You must then re-package and ship the item back to us insured within two weeks of original delivery. We will refund the winning bid BUT NOT the shipping and insurance. This return policy is VOID if more than 3 days expires after you receive the item. It is VOID if you ship the item anywhere else before returning it to us or if you offer the item for sale yourself after receiving it. It is also VOID if we don't receive the item in the same condition it was in when we shipped it to you originally.
10. I have good feedback, will you accept my personal check?
We accept personal or business check on items selling for $200 or more ONLY (with a two-week hold period). We don't accept personal or checks otherwise. Please don’t take it personally. We would need to allow all funds to clear the bank before shipping and this delays the transaction too much and presents an insufficient funds risk we don’t want to take. If the item you are purchasing sold for more than $50 you may deduct $1 from your total if you pay with a money order or a cashiers check. You may deduct $5 from your total if your item sold for $500 or more and you pay this way. Alternately you may pay through Paypal. We don’t offer a $1 discount when you use Paypal because we pay the credit card fees on all purchases made through Paypal.
11. When will you leave me positive feedback?
We leave positive feedback when the transaction is complete. For the transaction to be complete we need to know you received the item and won’t be returning it. You may inform us of your satisfaction by either emailing us that you received the item and are satisfied (at which point we will leave you positive feedback) or by leaving us positive feedback (at which point we will know you are satisfied and we will return the feedback). We understand if bidders prefer for us to leave feedback first. We will do so as soon as we know there is no more work to be done on the transaction. We have had bidders pay immediately and then try to violate our return policy after receiving the item by waiting two weeks to express dissatisfaction, etc….This experience has taught us that the transaction is not always over when the bidder sends payment. Therefore we will leave positive feedback when we know the transaction is complete.
12. Why haven’t you left me positive feedback?
If you take longer than two weeks to send payment we may choose to leave no feedback at all rather than leave you a neutral feedback. We are grateful that you fulfilled your obligation to pay for your item but we prefer to receive payment quicker. If we didn’t encounter any other problems to warrant a Neutral or a Negative, we leave nothing at all so your record isn’t effected.
13. Why did you choose the name "Acidstamp" for your business?
One of our first auctions was for a piece of art glass which was signed on the base with an acidstamped/acid-etched signature. The name refers to "acidstamp" signatures on glass items; it's not a 60's counter-culture reference! We knew we would be selling a lot of antiques, furniture and art glass and all of the obvious references to antiques and furniture and glass were taken, so we chose this easy to remember name for our Ebay handle.
If you have a question which is not answered on this page, feel free to write us at acidstamp@cox.net. But before you do so, please double-check that your question is not answered above, and that it is not answered in the item's description. Please read the description carefully before writing, and please do not ask questions that are answered in the description (For example, if a description says that an item is "mint", please do not write to ask if it is really mint.). If your question is not answered here or in the item description, feel free to write and we will respond to all questions as soon as possible in the order they were received. Please be sure to include the item number and the title of the item in your email. Thanks for reading this, and good luck with your bids!
