Journey Away (9.11.2001)

We’ve one thing in common; one thread that we share

One thing in common; no matter how much we bared

Our lives have been altered; we now face our days differently

As we Journey away from that September day; that we wish we’d never seen

Blue sky interrupted; by 4 stray birds in flight

Life as we knew it disrupted; once confronted by the sight

Starring at the TV in unity; as if we’re starring at our deity

Adhering to the Talking Heads as if they’re prophets; only adding to uncertainty

Day like any other; but none like we’d ever see again

Some pulled together like brothers, others victims to misguided blame

Our Constitution was built upon; brotherhood humanity

Why then must the president stand to defend religions and other creeds?

Awaking a year later; cherishing more as each day lights

Which ideals in our world are justified? Who’s to determine what’s right?

I rise out of my bed & wonder; God intention in allowing this scene to play

I look at my children and wonder will they ever feel as free as I did before that September day
