Never Enough

Man gives half of himself to live

Society makes the holes in the sieve

Looking out for me I miss what is

There’s never enough you take what’s his

Taking all, proud you stand

Staring at those empty hands

Taking their coats when they turn their backs

There’s never enough in anyone’s sack

Desire burns, empty vials

Escape nears after all the trials

Wished for this through all the miles

There’s never enough after all’s been filed

Souls pour out joined by tears

Unions formed to face our fears

Criticize what’s closest for so many years

There’s never enough to realize what’s dear.

Winds blow warm

Flags lay low

Wagons lay empty

Nothing to tow

Tight grip ‘round oars

That won’t row

There’s never enough

To use what you know.
