Menominee, Michigan and Marinette, Wisconsin

Here are the first of the Menominee area photos that I've scanned.....

This is the Hattie Street Swingbridge, taken from my Grandfather's outboard motorboat in August of 1964.
Taken just entering the Menominee Marina on a August of 1964 morning.
Scott Paper Company, Menominee, Mich.  - September of 1964.
This is Reimer's Marina in Marinette - September 1964.
Someone's boat was blown in half by an explosion. Marinette, Wisconsin in August of 1965.
This is looking south along 1st Street in Menominee, just prior to starting a widening project. May 1966.
Here a Caterpillar is ripping out the old curbing. May 1966.
Another view of a tree stump being pulled out. May 1966.
More of the old sidewalks and curbs being cleared away. May 1966.
Quite the pile of old concrete! May 1966. Apparently I never shot any photos of the street after it was completed that fall.
Here is a photo of the old Hotel Marinette, Marinette, Wisconsin, taken on December 11, 1966.
That same day, December 11, 1966, I shot this photo of the old Henes Brewery in Menominee. Just by chance, the place caught fire a few days later...........
This fire started sometime during December 28, 1966 and by the evening it was going rather strongly!
A while later it was being brought under control. It was a very cold night, and you can see the ice buildup.
And here, on a gloomy New Year's Day of 1967, is the remains of the brewery. This was also rather strange in that all of the photos I took of the brewery (before, during, and after the fire) were all taken on the same roll of film!!!
By the following July it was pretty well history, and I think there are now condos built on this site. July 1967.
This is the Ansul Company's old main office building, shown here on July 25, 1967 in Marinette, Wisconsin.
I was lucky enough to have a ride in the Ansul plane, and here it is at the Green Bay, Wisconsin airport in September 1971.
The Twin Cities AM radio station, WMAM. I used to know a Jerome Wilson who worked there back in the late '60's - wonder what ever happened to him..............
This is the old Fox Theater in Marinette shortly after being condemned account the side wall is falling away from the roof! September of 1967.
Here is a shot of the old Sugar Beet Company building burning. The fire was in Menominee, Michigan and I took this photo from the Ansul Company's dock across the river in Marinette, Wisconsin. September of 1967.
This is the house I lived in as a teenager, and I took this photo of it in August of 1969. The address is 608 18th Avenue, Menominee, Michigan. I wonder if the present owners will ever see this photo! If I remember correctly, it was built around 1910 or so by the J.W. Wells Lumber Company as a demonstration house showing what could be done with hardwood. Every piece of wood in it was hardwood! It had beautiful hardwood parquet flooring.
