Welcome to the home page for The AnteDiluvian Game World. Take a look at What's New in our web.

Antediluvian means “before the flood”

This is the site for my PbeM FRPG [Play-By-eMail Fantasy Role Playing Game]. This means I’m a geek. So be it.

If you are not interested in this game, then there is nothing on this page of interest to you.
My name is Tony Padegimas, I run the game, and I take full responsibility for it.
This site is bare bones because I only have 10MB, and because I’m a rank novice at HTML.

The game is text-based, by e-mail (no chat rooms or MUD’s), human moderated, with rules. Players submit their declarations. Then I roll the dice, and write a results turn based upon their declarations, and what the dice told me about them. I take dramatic licenses and add descriptive detail as I see fit.

One of the missions of this project is to provide a new and stable home for characters left over from abandoned campaigns. The game world was selected and developed to be deliberately generic. The rules are homebrewed with an emphasis on flexibility and real numbers (which always convert). And, the game itself has been going for seven years.

The Antediluvian World is set on a fantasy version of Earth circa 15,000 BC, when the kingdoms of Atlantis were above the waves and poised to conquer the world (again). The game setting is based on The Lexicon – Atlas of the Lost World of Atlantis by Stephan Michael Sechi, Vernie Taylor, and Ed Mortimer; published by [now defunct] Bard Games in 1985.
They describe their setting thusly:

The world of Atlantis is an immense setting for an FRP campaign, affording players with nearly unlimited possibilities for adventure. By the same token, the possibilities for danger are numerous. With the exception of a few large cities and settlements, most regions are essentially vast and underdeveloped wilderness. … Wild beasts or primitive tribesmen will constitue the only forms of life in certain areas. Even in supposedly civilized locales, adventurers may find themselves the objects of superstitious fear and hatred.

So, you know, the usual stuff.

We work in Word files - because everyone has Word. Whaddya gonna do? If you can't work with Word files, you can't play this game. That's where it is.

These Word files have some basic info:

The rules, originally devised by Pat Hoel, Mark Kinsey and myself are a point-based system which uses real numbers wherever possible. Character development feels a bit like GURPS, the skill system smacks of Rolemaster, and combat may remind astute players of Palladium, but it’s all original nonetheless, and we have a magic system that we’re really quite proud of.

Follow this link (or the one at the top of the page) to get to the current Rules.
