I am Jerry L. Webster, RLS and the Owner/Manager of Advanced Civil Design, PLLC. My background includes 30 years of experience in commercial and residential subdivision construction and design. My work has been as a Civil Designer for the past 10 years, primarily in residential subdivision design with some experience in apartments, condominiums & townhouses. During the recent development surge my department was maintaining the fastest subdivision construction drawings without the loss in quality. Over a 42 month period there was an average subdivision (127± lots) completed every three months. With a no nonsense approach to drawing creation and proper management, projects can be completed in excellent time with no loss in quality control. |

Although I was born here and spent most of my life here in the valley, I graduated high school in New Mexico. While there, I completed a course at the Albuquerque Technical-Vocational Institute in the Drafting and Surveying program. It was there I leaned the skills of creating drawings and basic Land Surveying. Although the drafting was with pen/pencil and paper, the principals behind creating quality legible drawings are the same using AutoCAD.
After
completing the course, I moved back to Phoenix in 1977 and began my career as a
Land Surveyor. In 1982 I passed a course at Phoenix College based on
Brown's Boundary Control & Legal Principals. Most of the next 21 years my work was as a Survey Crew
Chief. My responsibilities included a variety of projects including
Boundary Surveys, Alta Surveys, Topographic Surveys, Residential Construction
Surveying, Commercial Construction Surveying and several projects for the US
Army Corps of Engineers. In the fall of 1998, I began working in the office as a Survey Tech and CAD-Tech. In that same year I became a Registered Land Surveyor.
Over the next few years my interest in learning the designing aspects increased
and I was given more opportunities in that area. My planning experience
began in 1999 with the responsibility for the preliminary design of three
subdivisions and, the majority of the work for the construction drawings.
My work continued in civil designing learning the aspects of residential
construction, apartments and condominium site designing.
In
2004 I was given an offer to become a full time Civil Designer, which I
accepted. Besides the Civil Design projects, my responsibilities included
the creation of Final Plats and reviewing all of the Final Plats for the
office. A recession caused a reduction of 80% of the company, including
myself. Shortly after my lay-off, a rush order came in from a
client. Because of my abilities to complete the design and create the
construction drawings quickly and accurately, I was called back as a
subcontractor to meet the short deadline. That was the beginning of
Advanced Civil Design, PLLC.
In evaluating the companies request for my services, it was evident that I could
provide the bulk of the construction drawing needs for a lower cost than an
internal staff. Because of my attitude about my work being done in as
reasonable of a time as possible, my portion of the work could be completed
faster than the average person. It did not take too much time to realize
that faster service at a lower cost would be easy to market as long as it
maintained quality. It was obvious to me that creating the drawings using
the methods/standards of the client would be very important. It would not
be useful to have drawings provided which are completely unfamiliar. I
feel confident that I can provide a valuable and cost effective service to any
company creating residential subdivisions.
Being a Registered Land Surveyor gave me the opportunity to provide Land
Surveying services as well. I have a partner in the Land Surveying,
licensed in Texas and Arizona, with over 30 years of experience managing the
field crews. We have been co-workers, friends and partners since 1997.
We
look forward to the opportunity to prove the quality of our business to any
new client. |
