Essay Assistance

The purpose of the essay is to allow the selection committee gets to know the real you. Whereas the application is used to “weed out” applicants who are unqualified, the essay allows you to stand out from the crowd and shine as the one most deserving of the award.

When the judging committee considers two equally qualified candidates, the deciding factor can sometimes be the quality of the application essay. I can coach you through the entire essay writing process, from pre-writing to the final draft. With my help you can write a winning essay that can honestly be called your own.

Here’s how the essay assist process works:

• Personal telephone consultation for pre-writing
• E-mail your essay draft to advantagewriting@cox.net.
• In 72 hours (or less) you will receive your edited essay with clearly marked suggested changes, grammar and style corrections, and notes for improvement. You will also receive a separate written evaluation of your essay with added suggestions.
• You decide which suggestions to accept. If you want to have a second draft re-edited, you can submit it again for an additional low fee.

Educational Consulting

Private educational consulting offers great value to the family who wants access to professional guidance at multiple points during the college search and admissions process. Experienced counseling support continues through the financial aid negotiation process and any final planning needs. As questions occur throughout the year, I can answer them promptly. It's like having a counselor "on call!"

Working with families, I can serve as your personal guidance counselor. Most high school guidance counselors work with hundreds of students each year. They are knowledgeable and want to help, but the sheer number of students they must serve limits their effectiveness.

Beginning as early as 8th grade, I work with families in helping students with course selections, extra-curricular activities and other aspects of the student’s high school career. A small investment in early counseling can help the student develop a well-rounded résumé while enjoying the high school experience.
