1974: Master Kirpal in India

Many who were with Master Kirpal in India will recall how it was not uncommon in satsang, to observe before his talk, or during the chanting of a shabd by the Pathi, that his eyes would suddenly, yet unobtrusively disappear upward.

There was nothing showy about it. In an odd way it seemed very natural when he was in a relaxed state, but it was nevertheless always astonishing.
(I often observed this also with Sant Darshan Singh).

Paraphrasing from my diary, (too poorly written to quote directly, but still well remembered):

On January 23/ 1974 during his evening talk to the westerners, Master could not seem to keep his surat in the body. While he talked, even while gesturing with his hands, his eyes kept rolling up, sometimes his voice would slow and he would seem to stiffen. His usual exuberance was little in evidence. Finally at one point, while his hand was raised, his eyes again went up, his voice petered out, his hand slowly dropped to his lap and his had slowly fell to his chest.

Two or three long seconds passed, then once again his head came up and his hand came up, and his words continued, but his eyes kept going and once more he sort of petered out, though not quite as dramatic. After this he soon seemed to come back "into his beautiful exuberance" (my diary), his amazing face wreathed in smiles, his words direct yet playful, his eyes dancing with aliveness.

He said, "Master gives cash not credit!"
