The following is one of the superlative stories of grace found in the Ocean of Grace Divine.

Let there be no mistake, if we wish to exalt our divinity rather than our ignorance, the guru is a necessary intermediary. Whether the Master spouts incessantly the praise of the guru, or merely emphasises the benefits of meditation, praise of the guru will pour forth from the Sangat in any case. Why? Because he "loves us first". Because in a world of a many qualities, the True Master exemplifies the quality of LOVE, compassion, care for the preciousness of all living things. And through him that emotion is ignited in us in a new way.

We may have heard such ideas as love for all somewhere or another in our life. Perhaps from reading of a near death experience, or someone who went through a terrible life crisis and came out OK. People will speak of love, forgiveness, letting go of all the pretensiousness and posturing of the human. The Master, however, incarnates this principle and mirrors its reality back to the disciple.

He shows that it is the only principle that penetrates every aspect of the material and spiritual regions.

Relating to him we create a divine, healing connection to the reality of love at the center of our own being. Identifying with him, we inculcate the qualities he manifests. "As you think, so you become."

The outstanding new book from SK Publications, Flowering of Grace, indicates clearly that the Masters work goes on with full force, whether the rhetoric of the Living Master is engaged or not. Gurubhakti appears spontaneously without the need of "an interprative nexus" as Lane wrote.

I am speaking of the recent discussion with Daly on RSstudies. We don't need a handbook of doctrine. Sant Mat is the natural doctrine of the heart that arises through connection with a Perfect Living Master.
