A Place to Discuss the Life and Teachings of Kirpal Singh

"So I wish each one of you to be practical. Do not try to reform others. Reform your own self.... This is what my Master once wrote to me: 'Many come only to criticize; others come out of devotion.'"   ~ Kirpal Singh, Jan. 9th, 1964

Quotes from the Masters  Our Policies and Philosophy

All are welcome to this place in the spirit of devotion.

Our purpose: to learn about the life and teachings of Kirpal Singh and to use that knowledge to guide our way back home.

Satsang, as the term implies, is association with Sat or Truth. Satsang meetings should therefore be exclusively devoted to the discourses on Sat, which in its broader connotation includes talks on God, Soul, Word, the relation between the soul and God on the one hand, and Soul and the Universe on the other, and the Godman or spiritual master, what He is, His need and importance, and His Teachings. It also includes discourses on allied topics like ethical life, love, faith, compassion, and all that which makes way for the healthy and progressive development of Divine Life, leading to efflorescence of spirit in cosmic awareness.

THE PURPOSE OF SATSANG

It must always be borne in mind that the actual awakening of the spirit is the work of the Master Power overhead. The talks are just like refresher courses, which may help in the proper understanding of the teachings on the intellectual level. Both the initiates and non-initiates derive immense benefit from such. In these congregations, universal truths are brought home to all alike. A spirit of universal brotherhood on the broad basis of human beings as the children of the Supreme Father is inculcated, so as to link all with the silken bonds of love and amity.. For the initiates, these serve as cementing factors on the Path, clarify doubts and misapprehensions, if any, and for the non-initiates ground is prepared which may stimulate the inquisitive mind in their innate craving for the Way. There are no turnpike gates of religion, faith caste, creed, color, nationality, or avocation. All are welcome to it, even though retaining their distinctive religious organizations; social modes of life, etc, for the spirit or soul in all is above them, and remains unaffected by outer pursuits.

SUBJECT AND SCOPE OF SATSANG

We may take up as a subject the hymns from any scripture, preferably from the Masters of the Sound Current. It may be supplemented by apt quotations from parallel writings of other Master Saints. The illustrations from various Masters are essential so as to bring out the essential unity in the teachings of all Saints. We should not discuss, however, the practical part of the Science. Again the subject itself should be of a non-controversial type. It must strictly refer to the Spiritual Science. Its exposition should be couched in terms that are loving and create a fragrant atmosphere which may have a universal appeal to the participants, without hurting the feelings of anyone. It should not form a debating club. If anyone has to inquire about anything, or wants elucidation on any particular point, that can be done most happily in private.

LOVE AND SERVICE THE BASIS OF SATSANG

The work of satsang should be conducted in a dignified spirit of love and service. Our thoughts, words, and deed should radiate nothing but sweetness. Love can surmount all obstacles and is a veritable cure for all the ills of the world. The necessity for love cannot be over-emphasized in the service of the Master's Cause.
~ Kirpal Singh

"Meetings with the members will benefit them greatly. Meet them with love and affection, such that even a dry, withered heart takes courage and flourishes"
~ Sawan Singh

  Teachings

During the time of his mission, the Master initiated approximately one hundred twenty thousand souls into the spiritual science. Though his influence continues in the various branches and satsangs which came directly from his inspiration (now numbering into millions of people) he issued a unique series of essays called the "Circular Letters", which were meant for the guidance of his own initiates in the various spiritual, psychological, and social issues for which such guidance was required. In these, and in his "heart to heart talks", the man, the master, and the teacher were all combined in a unique way.

Reading them gives the clearest picture of what he was about. We used to get these ciruclars soon after they were issued, and I can say that in them I could feel the concern, the compassion, the caring, and the love of our Master. And they were very enlightening as well. Fortunately they have all been posted, along with Master's many other writings, on the web:
"Sant Kirpal Singh: His mission, teachings, writings and spiritual organization."

Whenever a true Master comes, he inevitably dispels the tremendous confusion seekers have about spiritual matters. With his powerful words and far-reaching intellect, Kirpal Singh did just that. I particularly suggest two circulars from the group: Sant Kirpal Singh: Spiritual Elixir index to the circulars
Circular #3 Ends and Means
Circular #17 "The Psychology of Mysticism"
