Episode 4- This game is about Minutes, among other things

In a nutshell- Get up, grab a taxi, and get to the airport.  Better hurry, only the first four get the good flight.  This game is about minutes.  Fly to Namibia, otherwise known as the "large expanse of sand."    Find a lighthouse.  Yes, thats right, a lighthouse in the middle of the desert.  Spot your vehicle and drive it to the Matterhorn sand dune.  Fast Forward?  Find an old railroad in the middle of a hotel pool.  Do some hiking.  This game is about flying down a sand dune at 50 miles per hour.  Drive to Spitzkoppe and find the General Dealer.  Postcard of the Day says go to the Woodcarver's Market.  Excuse me, I'm still looking for the Matterhorn Sand Dune... Do you know where it is?  Yes!  Its in the desert!  This game is about buying various woodcarved animals.  Trade the animals with the bushman for a giant giraffe.  Get to the Amani Lodge.  Don't forget your giant giraffe.  This game is about not staying on the path.

Here are the departing times for teams on this leg:
Oswald and Danny 2:52 AM First Place
Gary and Dave 2:52 AM 0 minutes behind
Tara and Wil 2:52 AM 0 minutes behind
Mary and Peach 5:56 AM 3 hours 4 minutes behind
Shola and Doyin 6:02 AM 3 hours 10 minues behind
Blake and Paige 6:02 AM 3 hours 10 minutes behind
Chris and Alex 8:50 AM 5 hours 58 minutes behind
Cyndi and Russell              8:51 AM       5 hours 59 minutes behind

The teams wake up and check out.  Oswald and Danny are the first to leave.  Oswald hurt his foot doing yoga, but they don't want the other teams to know their weakness.  Gary/Dave and Tara/Wil leave soon after and the three make their way to the commuter airport, sharing a taxi to save money.   They make it easily as the first three teams on the first flight.  The question is who will get the fourth spot.  Mary/Peach are the next team to leave, but Shola/Doyin and Blake/Paige are both only 6 minutes behind.  Mary and Peach grab a taxi quick and tell their cabbie to drive fast.  Blake/Paige offer their cabbie an extra 100 rand if they get there before the other teams, which he assures them they will.  Shola/Doyin's cabbie says he knows a shortcut that the other cabbies probably don't know about.  Mary/Peach tell their cabbie he can slow down because they don't want him to get a ticket.  They are the first team to arrive.  Shola/Doyin arrive a few minutes later, and utter the words that became the title of this episode "This game is about mintues."  They and the remaining three teams (Blake/Paige, Cyndi/Russel, and Chris/Alex will be on the second flight.

The first flight lands at Walvis Bay airport in Namibia, which seems to be a small building surrounded by miles of nothing but sand.  The teams wonder how they are going to get out of there to their next destination, the Swakopmund Lighthouse.  They all rush to the car rental counters, where they determine that they cannot rent because they only have cash, no credit cards.  Oswald and Danny's politeness pays off again when the lady at the counter arranges for a friend to drive them to the next desination in exchange for whatever they feel is fair.  The other three teams arrange for a taxi to come pick them up, which apparently cost a good bit because Wil throws a fit.

Oswald and Danny arrive at the Lighthouse and make their way up the stairs, but not without pain.  They spot the vehicles that the clue directs them toward and head out.  When they get to the car, they are told to either go to the Matterhorn Sand Dune or to go for the Fast Forward at the Swakopmund Hotel.  Oswald's injury apparently has shaken their confidence, because they decide to go for the Fast Forward.  The other three teams arrive and make their way to their cars, where Mary and Peach also decide to go for the Fast Forward because Peach is not feeling well.

Oswald and Danny make it to the hotel and find the clue easily.  They are headed to the Pit Stop at Amani Lodge, near Windhoek.  But they make time to exchange their currency and buy some drinks at the hotel.  Mary and Peach arrive soon after they leave to discover the fast forward has been taken.  They regret their mistake and make their way to the Sand Dune.

Tara and Wil are the first to arrive at the sand dune and hike up.  They get up there eventually and are presented with the detour. This week the options are Slide or Stride.  Slide requires the teams to slide down the sand dune on a sandboard.  The stride option requires them to walk down the back face of the dune.  They decide to slide and get the next clue, which directs them to Spitzkoppe General Store where they should ask for the Postcard of the Day.

Gary and Dave are the next team to arrive at the dune and both slide.   Around this time, the second flight lands and begin trying to find taxis.  Chris and Alex head to the phones while the others stand outside.  Three taxis arrive, and Shola/Doyin, Cyndi/Russel, and Blake/Paige claim them.  Chris/Alex are delayed about an hour waiting for a taxi.  Blake/Paige, then Cyndi/Russel, then Shola/Doyin make it to the lighthouse.  They all start their trek to the Sand Dune.  Chris and Alex arrive sometime after them and also start their trek, remarking that it was difficult looking down at the beach and seeing their vehicle there all alone.

Mary/Peach arrive at the dune, and after much trouble, make it to the top.  They slide and head to Spitzkoppe.  Meanwhile, Tara and Wil are the first to arrive at the General Dealer, where the postcard tells them to go the woodcarver's market.  Gary and Dave arrive soon after.  Blake and Paige arrive at the dune and slide, as do Cyndi and Russel.

Shola and Doyin seem to be having problems.  They are lost and cannot find the Matterhorn on the map.  Getting their vehicle stuck in the sand doesn't help matters.  They get unstuck with the help of some locals and continue being lost.  They ask a local woman if she  knows where the matterhorn sand dune is.  "Yes!," she says, "Its in the desert!"   Why thank you... You've been most helpful.

Tara and Wil arrive at the woodcarver's market and get the roadblock.  They must buy woodcarvings of Africa's big 5 animals:  Then they must take the five animals to the bushman who will trade them the clue and a giant giraffe.  Tara performs the roadblock with loud verbal help from Wil.  They get the giraffe and get the last clue, which tells them to lug themselves and their giraffe tot he pit stop at Amani Lodge, near Windhoek.  Gary/Dave arrive as Tara/Wil are leaving.  Tara/Wil accuse Gary/Dave of speeding, which is apparently against the rules.  Gary tells them that they are "going down."

Oswald and Danny arrive at the pit stop first.  Gary/Dave arrive some time later, followed by Tara/Wil who apparently had trouble finding the pit stop because they didn't completely read the clue.

Mary/Peach do the roadblock, followed closely by Blake/Paige.  Blake and Paige have made up some time on this leg, it looks like.  They both arrive at the Pit Stop at about the same time and Mary/Peach have a slight lead.  Blake and Paige veer off of the path which Mary didn't realize they could do.  Blake/Paige arrive about a minute before Mary/Peach.  Cyndi and Russel arrive sometime after Mary and Peach.

Now it comes down the Chris/Alex vs. Shola/Doyin.  Shola/Doyin realize that it is only a few minutes to the closing time of the sand dune and they still haven't found it.  Chris/Alex, who have already completed the detour, make their way to the roadblock and eventually to the pit stop as team number 7.  They are relieved to find out they have not been eliminated.  Shola/Doyin get a mercy clue that allows them to skip the detour and road block and head straight to the pit stop for their elimination.  Just two episodes ago they were first, now last.  The game definitely is about minutes.
