RESULTS BY TEAM:
| ROB AND BRENNAN
(Lawyers/ Best Friends) 1st Place
After using their Fast Forward on the very first leg, they had to rely on themselves to stay in the lead for the remainder of the race, and they have did a very good job of it. They maintained a calm and level-headed composure, even they feared being eliminated in Leg 5. They debated taking measures on the final leg that might have prevented Frank and Margarita from gettings a flight, but they decided to play fair and clean. Congratulations to these guys... they managed to beat a team in their own home town, and they did it with class.
|
FRANK AND MARGARTIA
(Estranged Couple) 2nd Place
This team was statistically the strongest throughout the race. They had a couple of rough times maintaining concentration, but overall they played very well. I think watching Margarita slowly come to the realization that they were in 2nd place was a very sad moment. But as Margarita said hereself, they took a lot more away from the race than money. It sounds like they reconciled. And they showed a lot of class and good-sportsmanship when crossing the finish line. Congratulations to them too.

| BILL AND JOE
(Life Partners) 3rd Place
They made one mistake, but it was the biggest of the entire series. This team which had been THE dominant team, ended up not even close to challenging the leading teams. Their mistake came when they wasted their Fast Forward advantage by waiting for a cheap bus rather than springing the big bucks for a cab. As teams crossed the finish line in New York, they were still in Alaska. Congratuations to these guys for maintaining high spirits when they knew deep down that it was over for them. |
KEVIN AND DREW
(Frat Brothers)
This is another team that narrowly missed being eliminated the first episode, but made a comeback to become one of the leading teams. Their demise was argueably caused by a choice they made days before: looking for the private car rather than going for the sure-bet Bus in Thailand. This caused them to become lumped into the trailing pack on leg 10. In the end, their elimination came down to taking too long leaving from the Beijing food market.

| NANCY AND EMILY
(Mother and Daughter)
Nancy and Emily narrowly avoided elimination in the very first few episodes, but they made a big comeback. In Krabi, both they and Team Guido fought for the much needed Fast Forward. After losing it, they made perhaps the biggest mistake seen in the series thus far: they gave up prematurely. After getting frustrated in trying to find their private car, they in effect disqualified themselves by taking a taxi to the next route marker. Had they taken the bus, they would have would up in fourth place easily. |
LENNY AND KARYN
(The Dating Couple)
This team's problmes started in Paris with the Notre Dame fiasco, and they never really recovered. They managed to slide in because of other teams' mistakes for several episodes, but their end finally came in India, where they actually began the Taxi Race to Agra in second place. All teams had trouble with their taxis, but they fell behind the most and arrived a few minutes late.

| PAUL AND AMIE
(Engaged couple)
Much of Leg 5 was dominated by a long driver through the Sahara Desert which required teams to use a compass and a map well. Maybe because of Amie being sick, the team had a rough time navigating. They got so lost, they eventually arrived a the Pit Stop in their car, having bypassed several Route Markers. |
DAVID AND MARGARETTA
(Grandparents, Married)
In a rush, Margaretta found a cab she believed would take them directly to El Jem. Unfortuneately, their driver brought them to a transfer point where other cabbies would not accept their currency. The time it took them to exchange their currency was enough to put them in last place at El Jem. |

| PAT AND BRENDA
(Moms/Best Friends)
After using the Fast Forward, they were in great position. They chose to go for the Easy Walk detour by finding Foucoult's Pendulum. The catch was that there were two of them in Paris. They mistakenly went to Le Musee des Arts et Metiers instead of the Parthenon. This cost them just enough time to keep them behind for the remainder of the leg.
|
KIM AND LESLIE
(Teachers/Best Friends)
They ran into big trouble on Leg 2. Their troubles began when they immediately went to the observation deck of the Eiffel tower instead of finding the Route Marker at the base. When they eventually did find the Route info, they made it to the Arc de Triomphe ahead of 2 other teams. But these teams slid past them as they argued with their cab driver over money, and they were eliminated.

| MATT AND ANA
(Married couple)
This team just didn't get off to a good start... they tried to save money by taking the subway to the airport in New York. Consequently, they were on the last flight to Johannesburg. They were only track to finish 9th, but after bypassing Songwe Village, two other teams slid in behind them and they finished last. |
