With
the discovery of the laws of quantum physics has come a perspective of
the universe in terms of energy. Everything is energy…the only variable
being its density. We already know from chemistry that an unseen gas is
far less dense than a solid object, but now we are not stopping at the
chemical makeup of matter, but we are going deeper, to the very quantum
level. This is where healing takes place…on a cellular level. All
matter- seen and unseen- comes down to the same atomic level. And all
atoms, with the proton center and the elusive whirling electrons, are
individual energy systems. The onset of quantum theory has brought a concurrent appreciation for a philosophy of healing which deals with health from an energy perspective. Qi (pronounced “chee”) from the Chinese language is the same as the anglicized word chi, the Japanese, “ki”, as in Reiki. These words are used interchangeably to mean life force, vital energy, universal energy…the energy of God…. QiGong means “cultivation of energy practice”. As a meditation in movement, QiGong’s stimulation of Internal qi along the energy meridians is a healing, energizing, balancing force, believed to enhance the immune system and to heal disorders and diseases. Internal QiGong practice should not be done by anyone dealing with mental or emotional imbalance, such as bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, etc. First that condition must be healed, and then QiGong exercises can begin. Individual QiGong is practiced to reduce stress and anxiety while improving bodily fitness, balance, and agility. A classic, ancient approach to maintaining health is a highly personal individual technique called “formless movement QiGong”. This form is gaining a resurgence of interest in China where thousands of QiGong forms are known. Tao Guang QiGong, taught by Anne Marie Omweg, is a formless movement QiGong. In a one-on-one QiGong therapy session with a practitioner, External qi is brought into the body along the meridians to relieve suffering, and the energy is moved according to the unique needs of each individual body. |
