The
purpose of this website is to explore ideas about Institutional
Review Boards, including what is going wrong and what is going
right, especially with respect to social science research. It is my
hope to gather information and ideas from scholars about the
functioning of IRBs in their institutions, presently or formerly,
and to compile these comments into a report at an appropriate
time.
My
dissertation, titled: Institutional Review Boards: Politics,
Power, Purpose and Process in a Regulatory Organization, is
available below. It is searchable, and contains active links to
cited documents. The links are updated four times per year; my
apologies for outdated ones.
