Entry
U.S. residents need either proof of citizenship such as a passport
or a birth certificate with a positive photo ID. A passport is
recommended. All other visitors must have
a current passport, and an onward or return airline ticket. Some
visitors may require a visa, check with the Mexican Embassy.Weather
You can only dive the Socorro Islands November
through mid June due to the conditions. During these months
all the mantas and sharks are plentiful. Keep in mind that the
Humpback Whales visit Socorro in great numbers during the cooler water
months.
Water
Water temperatures at Socorro ranges from 78-80F in
Nov to 70-72F in Feb/Mar and than back up to 78-80F in April/May. The
Sea of Cortez is warmer, 77-80F in July/Aug and 80-83F in Sept/Oct.
Visibility
Visibility can range from 25-90 feet.
Currency
The Pesos is the currency, but US $ are accepted almost anywhere.
Major credit cards and travelers checks are widely accepted.
Language
Spanish is the official language, but English is widely spoken and
understood.
Health
No vaccinations are required. In many areas in Mexico,
tap water is unsafe and should be avoided. Bottled water and beverages
are safe, although visitors should be aware that many restaurants and hotels
serve tap water unless bottled water is specifically requested. Ice
may also come from tap water and should be considered unsafe.
