Mushing without a client is possible, but very awkward. There are a number of clients which will make the mushing experience infinitely more enjoyable.

Biepmu - http://www.beipmu.com/ - Recently 'found' this one and I've been very impressed.

ZMud CMud - http://www.zuggsoft.com/ - More appropriate for Muds, can be used for Mushs
