NEWS CHARACTER
The following information is intended to help you while you are developing your
PC.
All characters will require application and approval, in the chargen process
(Anwethias Waiting Room - OOC) you will be developing the characters
background (+help +bg), that is the application process used here. Take your
time with your background, once its submitted and approved thats where your
PC will start RP. If your submitted background does not include something than
your character will have to start learning it and evolve that skill in RP.
RP will be primarily focused in Carraig and Caer Glas. Your character or your
characters family will be FROM someplace in Liosliath and will have clan ties,
your character will need a reason to be in Carraig or Caer Glas. That leaves a
wide swath of character opportunities, Carraig is the largest city, is opening
back up after Garragg occupation as the largest/busiest trading port of
Liosliath. In addition, Caer Glas is the Thanes keep where Liosliath is ruled
from.
Clans - Five major clans are defined (Gulban, Docartaig, Duthchas, Melaghlin,
McDaid) there are also minor clans. The five major clans have control all the
land in Liosliath. In history there were multiple clans in Liosliath who had
land, over time the smaller clans (and lands) were either taken over or
absorbed by the larger and more powerful clans. The smaller clan became part of
the major clan. The minor clan head may have been left to take care of what was
his/hers lands, though those lands would be the Pennaeths.
Note on the roster, the Ducs all are of a minor clan, +info *name will show
you something like Clan: Riabhaigh who had joined with clan Docartaig. Minor
Clans allows PCs to have their own surname and be part of one of the major
clans.
Holding Lands - Nobles are the ones who hold (own) lands. Non-nobles may have
stewardship (not own) a piece of land which was granted by a Thane, Pennaeth or
Barwyn as a special reward for services rendered. Check with Staff if you
intend for your PC to have a land stewardship.
We are not allowing characters from the other countries at this time, when that
changes - which is expected - we will let everyone know via a bboard 1
announcement.
The theme here does not currently support non-human PCs.
Minimum age for PCs is 16.
With age comes experience. A 16 year old is not going to best someone with more
years and experience.
Read the Current Day Bulletin Board (+bbread 2) especially the later posts
which will give you a idea of recent events.
If you are interested in nobles or high level characters - see +roster also
read the FAQ in the waiting room.
Barywn is a noble whose direct liege is a Duc. Each Pennaeth has two Duc
postions, each Duc has two Barwyn positions. Barywns are available for player
creation and are not roster characters. Speak with staff if you want to create
a Barwyn.
Carraig need merchant characters of all types. As a plus, merchants will have
rooms. Merchants can easily create role play through selling, buying and
interaction with other merchants and customers.
While the society is feudal, the barrier between noble and non-noble is not RP
prohibiting.
Complexions - The people of Nosizwe range in complexion from fair to dark
skinned. Native Liosliathians are typically fair skinned, natives from the
eastern portion, being Keranna and Atecot tend to be darked skinned. The mid
western area, to include parts of Garragg, Veni and Alba tend to olive
complexioned. The plains tribes in the north range from very light to vary dark
skinned.
What will be frowned on during the application process and will slow up your
approval- Characters that simply appear and no one knows anything about. Your
background application does reflect your theme understanding.
Ley Riders and Guardians are reserved characters. As a guideline - applications
for Ley Rider or Guardian will only be considered after a player has been
actively RPing for a period of 4 months.
Magic - if your character will have magic, during the background application
process (see +help +bg) you must have in addition to your characters general
background a section specific to magic. That section will define the magic your
character has, how he/she got magic, what is his/her skill level, and two
instances of using magic in ic terms. Any character with magic will require
Magic Staff approval.
