More than thirty centuries ago as well as any can determine, the individual
countries were beginning to take shape; small tribal territories gradually grew
into larger kingdoms under the leadership of the most powerful of the tribal
leaders.
The details are vague, but from what has been passed down we learn that in the
northern reaches of the land, where the rolling forested plains meet the polar
regions, an aggressive nomadic tribe who called themselves the Cruithne
conquered - after a hard fought battle - the Kabares. From the Kabares came
mages who held to the earth; speakers of the earth, a conduit between those
that cannot speak with those who can. Also of the Kabares were mages attuned
with one of the elements of earth, air, water or fire. The Cruithne absorbed
the Kabares into their tribe.
When the Cruithne went to take lands, the entire tribe would go. Warriors,
craftsmen and crafts women, mages, bards, children and all the tribes
belongings. In times of battle all of the Cruithne, as needed, would join in
the battles.
Next to fall to the Cruithne were the Boresti. A pattern of conquest was
established where the leader and immediate family was slain, one of the
Cruithne was put in charge, and a tiered system was established where pure
blood Cruithne were always at the top, followed by those of mixed Cruithne
blood and at the lowest strata the indigenous tribal peoples.

The Cruithne swept through the lands conquering in turn and over time the
Atecotti, Venicones, Dicalydones , Verturiones, Keranna, Mordant, Garragg and
last the clans of Liosliath. As the Cruithne tribes dispersed to the conquered
lands, the professional class - being the craftsmen and crafts woman - and the
local indigenous peoples over time shared in their knowledge.
The ancient Cruithne believed in many gods and goddesses. Every tree, every
bush, every flower, everything had a little deity living in it. Some of their
gods and goddesses were extremely powerful. But most were little deities. Each
tribe had theirs. They believed in an Otherworld, the Otherworld was the home
of many gods and goddess. It was a place of joy, where feasts were always
happening. The Otherworld was NOT a heaven. It was NOT a reward for doing
something good on earth. The Cruithne believed that everyone entered the
Otherworld when they died. Waterfalls were one of the many doorways to the
Otherworld. Natural waterfalls, especially small ones, were believed to have
healing power. To the ancient Cruithne, they were entrances to the Otherworld.
They believed in omens. Birds, especially, were believed to be able to carry
messages from the between the living world and the Otherworld with the help of
the mages. Beliefs which were to be passed down and become some presence in
years to come in the areas they ruled.
Ruled by the Cruithne the lands were firmly held..
But, even though the entire continent was held it was not an empire. There was
no Cruithne capital city,no Cruithne emperor or single common leader. There was
no Cruithne centralized administration, no sophisticated form of government, or
written code of law. There was no unified army of all the Cruithne. Rather, the
Cruithne consisted of dozens, and dozens, and dozens of individual Cruithne
tribes, each acting independently and on their own. Sometimes these tribes
would join together against a common enemy, frequently they would fight between
themselves. This lack of single leader would lead to the Cruithnes downfall.
Towards the end of the 1400s here and there revolts started to happen, the
Cruithnes were too thinly spread.

1501
In Liosliath Laogarius of the Docartaig clan, who held an area of the southern
most lands of Liosliath rallied the clans about his leadership. At that time
the clans, each led by its own chieftain, were: McDaid, Farlane, McDevit,
Melaghlin, Clachan, Uladh, Docartaig, Luader, Tarpaigh, Duthchas, Gilchrist,
Seiridh, Gulban, Tuama and Muldonie. The first recognized King of Liosliath,
Laogarius Docartaig lead the combined clans and forced the Cruithne nobles and
warriors out of their country.
During the final battles at the area where Garragg, Mordant and Liosliath share
borders, mages on all sides used fire, water, wind the land and shoreline was
brought to ruin by the magics. The McDavits led by Chieftain Briartach McDevit
were decimated, Chieftain Odharnait McDaid took the remnants of the McDavits
under her protection, appointing Sibeal McDevit as a sub-chief to hold the
Barren Lands and lands surrounding that wasteland and west to the Piorad Pass.
A group of six mages went to Laogarius Docartaig. He sensitive to the lands and
to magic felt the damage done to the earth, and agreed to summon the council of
kings, what is known is of that councils agreement.
The Lledrith Guardians were formed, mages tied to the earth, not to any
country
One area in mid-continent, a high plateau ringed by steep mountains
was declared taboo by the Guardians, for reasons unknown. Of all the continent
that area which became known as Eavld for its towering oak trees remained free
of any wars from that day forward.
The first Caer Glas is built at the Docartaig clan port city of Carraig.
Through politics and force, the Docartaig clan gains more land by absorbing the
lands of the Luader, being the southern most tip of Liosliath from the Stanyon
Mountains south and west. Gregoir Luader is named sub-chief.
1503 - 1700 Over the span of years:
Those of Keranna revolted and took their country from the Cruithnes.
Shortly after Liosliath pushed out the Cruithne, Those of Garragg allied with
Mordant and took their lands back
Atecotti, Venicones, Dicalydones , Verturiones over a period of years took
their lands back from the Cruithne.
Eventually the Cruithnes, those who survived that is, held a small piece of
land on the north west coast below the plains and a small rocky island off the
north western coast line the island they named Kaba.
Liosliath does its best to totally isolate itself, the two passs guarded.
The Farlane clan joins with the McDaid clan. Parthhlan Farlane named
sub-chief to hold the plains area bordered by the Docartaig holdings to the
south, Tannis River to the west, Bay of Lathi to the east and a road about two
days travel from Cein Glas.
Duthchas clan absorbs the smaller Gilchrist, Seiridh clans. Tighearnan
Gilchrist is appointed to hold the lands to the east and west of Vik Pass and
south to, but not including the village surrounding Caer Donn. Isibeal Seiridh
is named to hold lands in the south east.
Larger clans, led by a single chieftain are better suited to hold the passes.
Lagarius passes peacefully in his sleep in 1531, the position of King
inherited by his son Ciorstaidh. Laogarius line continues to hold the throne of
Lioslaith. In 1699, Mairsile Docartaig sits on her throne.

War begets war, once the leaders found they could hold their own lands they
wanted more.
The first to step forward were those of Keranna who quickly conquered Mordant
to its east. Dwyn Nuda, war leader of the Keranna flush with his victories than
pushed on into Atecot (Atecotti country) expecting a easy victory. The Atecot
fought for many years before finally succumbing to trickery to this day not
fully understood.
Late in the year shortly before the first snows Kerannas forces attempt to
break through the Vik pass of the Naithair Mountains, in the first week of
battle King Caratacus Docartaig is trapped and slain. His son Donagh takes over
the command of Liosliath warriors. The attack is repulsed after bloody
battles.
Garragg conquered Veni (Venicones) and Alba. Garragg attempted to invade
Liosliath by land believing Liosliath would be weak after the battles with
Keranna. Fresh forces, and more importantly skilled healers, from the
Melaghlin, Clachan and Uladh clans exactly the resources needed. Those clans
along with the Duthchas, McDaid, Gulban, Tuama and Muldanie commanded by
Warrior Queen Meadhbh Docartaig defeat the forces of King Maurus.
Circa 1760, Strife brought about by real and sometimes vastly exaggerated
episodes has the Gulban, Tuama and Muldanie clans in continual strife. Queen
Meadhbh Docartaig journeys to Caer Righ to meet with the three clan chiefs,
setting a precedent continued to this day of Liosliath justice, being the Royal
Court. There she finds Tuama and Muldanie at fault. Four days and three nights
of heated discussions yield the outcome where Lochlainn Gulban takes over the
lands of the Tuama and Muldanie clans. Lochlainn appoints Siofra Tuama as
sub-chief to hold the lands at the foothills of the Naithair mountains. Siofra,
her brother a master smith, knows the area is Lochlainn rich in ores.
Mathghamhain Muldanie is appointed sub-chief to hold the lands one days travel
inland from the Iarthar Ocean, that coastline does have a small yet serviceable
port.
At Caer Pent, healers, herbalists and apothecaries of the Melaghlin, Clachan
and Uladh clans have frequently been meeting. Realizing as the neighboring
clans become more powerful, individually each could be taken over by one of its
neighbors, the three clans decide to unite under one chief with Melaghlin the
largest clan being the obvious. Chief Raibeart Melaghlin, will head the clan.
Sub-chief Seastnan Clachan will tend to the lands half a days travel
south, north and east of the Tannis River Falls. Sub-Chief Sibeal Uladh will
tend to the lands half a days travel north, south and east from the caves along
the coastline.
Early 1780s Queen Meadhbh Docartaig dies when her horse stumbles on a mountain
path and she and the steed both tumble into a gorge of the Stanyon Mountains.
Her second son Cunobelinus Aedh Docartaig, who had been eying the Tarpaigh
lands for their wheat fields and whiskey production, claims the throne.
Clan Chief Fionnghuala Tarpaigh steadfastly refuses to give up her lands to
either the Docartaigs to the south or Melaghlins to the north. As King,
Cunobelinus is not in a position to usurp her lands until at one festival a
inebriated Fionnghuala pulled a blade and threw that blade at Naomh,
Cunobelinuss wife. The blade struck home killing Naomh. Fionnghualas fate was
sealed, the executioners blade. The Tarpaigh clan honor price for such a
action was considered mild by many, Cunobelinus appointed Fionnghualas
daughter Mairin as sub-chief and allowed Tarpaigh to tend to their lands.
Within a year Cunobelinus passed. Some say poison, others say natural causes.
Catigern Docartaig inherits the throne.
Now the major clans of Liosliath are five, Docartaig, Melaghlin, Gulban, McDaid
and Duthchas.
The northern plains becomes home to the remnants of tribes and to those
outlawed by their own countries.
In the mid 1780s a flotilla of Garraggs warships attacks Carraig, Liosliaths
major port and location of the King Catigern Docartaig Keep - Caer Glas. The
port city is laid to ruin during weeks of fighting. Catigern Docartaigs forces
barely manage to defeat the Garragg forces, a very heavy first snowfall aids
the Liosliath forces, a snowfall later attributed, perhaps falsely, to
Catigerns wife Dierdre who was known to be a water mage.

Keranna and Garragg battle over the years, Mordant sitting between the two
powers changes hands multiple times.
During the mid 2490s Garragg as legend speaks captured a Keranna ship, using
that ship they sailed into Kerannas port city of Naiose where the Keranna
Emperor Haydn Merfyn was visiting. Merfyn was slain by three mages, a water
mage a fire mage and a air mage. All three of Garraggs mages were captured by
the Keranna forces and executed as were all others of Garragg on the captured
Keranna ship. Haydns daughter Iona Aoife Merfyn became Empress, and within two
weeks sent forces by land and sea to Garragg. The land forces were to take the
two routes one along the southern coastline and one along the northern border
of Mordant where it meets Eavld. The forces on the southern route were given
orders to split their force and have half travel along the southern border of
Garragg along the foothills of the mountains while the other half of the
Keranna southern force was to find a way across the northern border of
Liosliath. All four of the Keranna forces, three traveling by land and the
fourth by sea where to converge at Ainslie, Kerannas Garraggs capital city on
the western coast. Blinded by her rage Empress Iona Merfyn refused Kerannas
military and naval leaders advice and guidance. Kerannas forces set off in the
early winter poorly equipped with orders to live off the land or Mordant,
Liosliath and Garragg and impress whatever mages they came across.
Liosliaths first Allting
King Catigern Docartaig summoned all the Chiefs and sub-chiefs to Caer
Glas for a meeting to determine multiple aspects relating to the well being of
Liosliath. As in past meetings with fifteen, five chiefs and ten sub-chiefs
along with various representatives from each clan the meeting was disruptive.
Sometime during that meeting and before the customary feast where no business
can be conducted, a new noble hierarchy naming convention was laid in place.
From that day forward the King became known as the Thane, as whoever sits upon
the throne of Liosliath does not own the land, rather holding it in trust as
it's ruler and protector. Clan Chiefs will be known as Pennaeth, responsible
for ensuring the clan holdings prosperity, unity and keeping the peace between
the major clans. The sub-chiefs would be known as Ducs, responsible for the
lands their Pennaeth allows them to hold. Ducs will have Barwyns to help in
that respect.
Thane Catigern Docartaig established the Allting, a council made up of
the Thane and five Pennaeths. The Allting to meet no less than twice a year.
Meanwhile the Atecot secretly meet with Alba, Veni and Diones. The agreement
was made none would join in the fight till after Keranna and Garragg joined in
battle. Than the four tribes would decide what to do. With little resistance
from Mordant, a land war torn, the Kerenna northern expedition force made good
time. Conversely, the southern land expedition force met with overwhelming
resistance from Liosliath on the southern side of the mountain range and the
strong resistance by the Garragg on the northern side of the mountain range.
Kerannas twenty three ships, full of men and supplies, sailed into a storm
stronger than they had ever believed possible, is told to this day the storm
was non natural but conjured by magic. Fourteen of the ships went down or where
otherwise lost. The eight remaining limped back to Kerannas port and the wrath
of Empress Iona Merfyn. The two southern Keranna forces after losing close to a
third of its mages and fighters turned back and retreated to Keranna.
By sword and magic Keranna extracted a heavy toll on the northern clans lands
of Liosliath, including the death of Thane Catigern Docartaig. The land is
again tethering on the brink of collapse, as each Clan look to their own
affairs, Liosliath left without a Thane.
Kerannas northern expedition force for reasons still unknown turned back to
Keranna without engaging the Garragg forces. Kerannas might suffers a serious
setback.

Ailbhe Docartaig - known as the White for her uncommonly fair skin - comes of
age, and immediately demonstrates the spirit of the Docartaig Clan is as fierce
as ever. She gathers the southern clans to her banner, and is declared Thane of
Liosliath. The northern Clans soon follow suit and swear allegiance.
King Cowal nGaulder of Garragg assembles a large land based force and starts
across Mordant towards Kerenna.
King Oengus of Mordant calls for aid from Atecot, Alba, Veni, Diones and
Liosliath. Pennaeth Seamus McDaid heeds Oengus call without conferring with the
other clan chiefs or the High Thane of Liosliath. The kings of Atecot, Alba,
Veni and Diones also answer the call. With the combined forces of Mordant,
Alba, Veni, Diones and the McDaids of Liosliath the Garragg forces are routed
at a battle of both magic and steel. To this day the battlefield in Mordant is
barren.
Garraggs might suffers a serious setback.
The alliance of Mordant, Atecot, Alba, Veni and Diones falls apart over petty
bickering and age old feuds.
Proving once and for all her intention to keep Liosliath one land, Ailbhe the
White invites - by way of her White Company - Seamus McDaid to Carraig, there to
answer for his unilateral actions. This is the first time the Guards are
deployed; a symbolic force, made up of warriors from all the Clans, they will
rise to command great respect and neutrality.
What is said between the Thane and the Clan Chief is unknown to this day, but
when Seamus leaves Carraig his oldest child and heir, Devnet - quickly dubbed
the Black for far darker skin than the High Thane - remains behind, betrothed
to Ailbhe.
2496
As the broken might of Garragg turn eyes toward the south, Thane Ailbhe, with
the support of every Pennaeth in Liosliath, starts the construction of several
strongholds in and above the passes in the Naithair mountain-range separating
her land from that of Garragg.
In December, on Winter Solstice, she marries Damhnait McDaid. To the great
surprise of all, the marriage not only lasts, but appears happy and stable; to
much less of a surprise it also remain childless.
2500
The White Tower of Carraig is built on Thane Ailbhes orders as a gift to her
spouse on their 4th wedding day. The strange date add to the rumors that fly
when masons from the desert City of Alkazamora are brought for the task. The
tower becomes a sight to behold, as it rise a good fifty feet above the
battlements of Caer Glas.
2547
Damhnait McDaid of the Clan McDaid, known as Devnet the Black, and Consort to
the Thane of Liosliath, dies after a winter of illness. After fifty-two years
on the throne, Ailbha Docartaig of the Clan Docartaig pass away within a
fortnight - some say from grief. A cousin of Devnet, Deoradhan McDaid, is
elected by the Penneath Allting take the throne.
The White Tower is sealed.
2602
The Desert City of Alkazamora is frozen overnight - some say because of a
magical accident. None can tell for certain, but from that day forward the
White Tower in Carraig is warm to the touch, and shines faintly in the dark.
The seals, when attempted, can no longer be broken.

McDaid of Liosliath. His first born, a daughter Tuilelaith, inherits the

port of Carraig.
From Eavld a cure is found and distributed throughout the lands. At first the
cure is suspected - facing a almost certain death or whatever the cure brings
most take the cure and are saved.
The Liosliath throne remains in the hands of Deoradhan McDaid descendents
until mid 2700s when Thane Aithbhreac McDaid who had recently inherited
abdicates the throne due to health issues and retires to a isolated community
in the McDaid holdings. Penneath Sian Dutchas, happens to be in Caer Glas when
Aithbhreac abdicates, she steps forward and makes a claim to the throne. The
other four Penneaths are furious at such actions political dealings are
quickly underway. Sian convinces the Gulban and McDaid Penneaths to support
her. Penneaths of Melaghlin and Docartaig, in a two to three minority, while
against Sians actions outwardly support her.
2765 - Thane Sian Dutchas drowns when the river boat she is traveling in hits a
rock outcropping. Of some surprise, she is the only fatality. The Penneath
Allting convenes at Cier Pent. Muadhnait, a scholar from the Dutchas clan,
proposes to the Allting where once a Pennaeth is selected to be the Thane, he
or she will pass the Pennaeth of his/her clan to a brother, sister or close
relative but not to a son or daughter. This proposal meant to thwart future
manipulations such as accomplished by Sian. The Penneath Allting agrees and
such becomes law. At the Allting Aedan Docartaig. of middle age with offspring
close to adult age, is selected as Thane.
late 2790s
During a fierce winters storm - Thane Aedan Docartaig and all hands are lost at
sea. Ceri Docartaig inherits.

3121 Drought! Lush green lands slowly wither and turn brown. The Tannis River
slows to a trickle and water is scarce in Liosliath. Wells are deepened
providing the bare amount of water to sustain the population. Where the Tannis
River emerges from underneath the Naithair Mountains the water level is so low
as to allow explorations. Penneath Ciorstag Gulban invites Thane Ceri Docartaig
to inspect the mines at the Naithair Mountains and the Tannis stream bed. While
inspecting a deep ore mine, the ceiling caves in trapping Penneath Ciorstag
Gulban, Thane Ceri Docartaig along with fourteen others. Valiant efforts to dig
through the rubble are abandoned when more cave-ins occur.
A deep cave is found in the rock face over which the river normally thunders. A
group of 12 led by Taileflath Clachan enter the cave, the group is never heard

the tax, of coin and labor, is met with resistance. Within months the benefits
of the road repairs are seen. Oddly enough the brilliant blue fabric and
tapestries now available via a widened road from the villages of Duc Seiridh
ODuthchas is one of the major factors in the acceptance of road repairs.

Duc Daibhidh OMcDaid, Duc of the Barren Lands, reports the first sightings of
strange lights within the Barren Lands. For three years the reports continue
bringing fear to many. Thane Goronwy Gulban commands Penneath McDaid to
investigate. The investigation party of thirty nine brave and well equipped
warriors begins their journey on the first night of a full autumn moon and
spends forty three days in the Barren Lands. They are finally driven from the
barren lands by a succession of fierce storms atypical for the autumn season.
Initial reports of caves and underground passageways showing signs of recent
habitation are given to the Thane and Penneath Allting at Caer Cein. Within
three weeks Thane Goronwy Gulban the Penneath Allting and all thirty nine who
had spent time in the Barren Lands are stricken with fatal illness.
With the entire leadership of Liosliath gone in the space of days, an

wildfire.
 NEWS HISTORY10 -
Liosliath had from its earliest history been a nation of clans, loosely allied
and often times fighting with each other however any attempts by foreign powers
would be met by a gathering of the clans to preserve their homeland. About 1500
one of the clan chieftans Laogarius Docartaig- was accepted by all the clans as
their King. In time the ruler of Liosliath would become known as Thane.
War has raged throughout the known world for hundreds of years, while
not every country has been engaged in the wars, the wars have been going on
with periods of dominance by different powers. Liosliath, with its mountain
range northern border with few passes and a rugged coastline is somewhat
naturally protected. A fact of geography which allowed Liosliath to flourish
and advance further than the other countries of Noswize. Since roughly the
early 3400s Liosliath has been free of major wars on its own soil, occasional
skirmishes at border and coastline did occur.
3485
Thane Cormach Gulban of Liosliath sent a courier to Tellurian nGaulder the
Emperor of Garragg with the offer of hospitality and feast at the in Carraig at
Caer Glas (Thanes Castle), Tellurian nGaulder with nobles and men at arms
arrived and were well greeted, at the feast those of Garragg turned on their
hosts with sword and dagger -Liosliath traditions of hospitality shattered with
treachery and blood. Cormach along with almost all his family being put to
death along with many of the other Liosliath nobles and clan members. Emperor
Tellurian nGaulder sat Rufino Thom nGaulder his youngest son on the throne of
Liosliath. Liosliath subjugated and occupied, the occupation was ruthless with
clan lands seized and given to supporters of Garragg with Liosliath clan
leaders being held captive or declared outlaws in their own land. Overwhelmed
by the Garragg forces and deceptions outwardly the clans had no choice but to
outwardly accept Garragg rule, except for those who fled to the hills and wilds
of Liosliath and gave battle where and when they could to the Garragg forces.
Maebh of Kaba, warrior, seeress, with unsurpassed oratory skills and
her promises to restore the greatness the Cruithne once held rallies the
Cruithne tribes still inhabiting Dionce. Parts of Atecot, Alba and the
barbarian plains tribes flocking to her war banner spread like wildfire,
rumored is support for the alliance from Mordant. Maebh forces press on the
northern borders of Garragg.
Garragg over time had to recall more and more of its men at arms from
Liosliath to protect its own northern borders and quelch internal insurrection
which was starting to flare up. With the Garragg presence in Liosliath weakened
the resistance was able to reclaim remote sections of their country. Word
spread of this accomplishment and soon from all over Liosliath the clans took
more direct actions against the Garragg presence.
Within this time the Ley Riders led by Kaya and Liosliath warriors led
by Niahl Docartaig gave battle to some strange beasts. Those of Liosliath and
the Ley Riders defeated the beasts, during the battle Niahl Docartaig and Kaya
were separated from the defending group. When the two returned to the group
they were both bloodied, what happened further neither would speak of.
Despite the rebellion against foreign rule, the Garragg presence was
too strong to defeat. Garragg questioners would on capturing any resistance
member or suspected resistance member subject the one to tortures or rope,
rack, hot iron. Few were released from that. Five years ago, Garragg’s northern
border was being breached by Maebh forces, the vast majority of Garragg s
military was pulled back leaving the Garragg placed King, Rufino Thom
nGaulder, and nobles with their personal guards and a very small military
force.
At the end of 3497 and first half of 3498, those warriors of Liosliath
seized the opportunity and from the remote sections it held began reclaiming
hamlets, villages and towns than Carraig.
Summer of 3498
Under a flag of truce a Liosliath force led by Niahl Docartaig rode into Caer
Glas and took over the castle, confining Garraggs Rufino Thom nGaulder in a
cell. Niahl of clan Docartaig is accepted by the Pennaeth Allting as Thane,
Niahl takes the Liosliath throne and initiates the rebuilding of the lands.
End of 3498
At this time in Anwethias history there is no dominating power, a condition
that cannot last. Liosliath is ambitious. But first it must rebuild itself while
facing dangerous challenges such as rogue mages, pirates, coastal and border
raiders, politics and infighting, illness and natural disasters add their
destabilizing presence.

State of the World April 3500

internal insurrections forcing those who lead the insurrections to the front
lines of the northern border.
In Liosliath, those true to the clans take back their lands. Those
