Disclaimer
This MUSH is an adult rated environment. By connecting to the MUSH, you are
taking full responsibility for your own actions, absolving the mush, its users,
admin and owners legally from anything you may do on the mush while connected.
You also agree to abide by the laws of your jurisdiction while connected to the
mush. It is, at all times, your responsibility to ensure you are in compliance
with local law.
Acceptable Use Policy
Accepting this policy means that without reservations you will not hold the
MUSH ownership or other players responsible for any violation of your laws.
You agree to adhere to:
news ts
news spying
news consent
news Harassment
Any deliberate provocation (particularly in the form of flames, fight picking
and rudeness) will not be tolerated.
While we cannot, and will not, dictate someone's OOC attitudes, we can and will
stress that within Anwethia each individual is fully expected to show OOC
respect to all other players. Degrading homophobic comments in any manner will
not be accepted and will be treated as, and dealt with as, Harassment.
Violation of this AUP may result in any or all of the following:
- suspension of access resources for a time to be determined by the
administrators
- removal or confiscation of your character
- notification of your site and/or system administrators and civil and/or law
enforcement authorities.
If you do not agree to abide by these rules, this mush is not for you and we
wish you happiness wherever you decide to go. -
 Consent
Anwethia is a consent-based mush. We cannot stress it enough: NO character may
in any way harm another character, or start any kind of scene, without first
receiving OOC permission from other characters player to do so.
Consent also means that during RP you should not force your actions to other
players. If your actions involve something happening to other players, you
should request their permission in page first.
An example: Niahl is in a scene with Caitlin and suddenly wants to toss
snowball at her face. There is three ways to handle this action.
1) Niahl poses in a way that leaves the result open, like this: "Niahl tosses
snowball at Caitlin, aiming at her face." Caitlin is free to describe in her
own pose the result of Niahls action. This is typical of consent-based RP
which does not use skills or stats to determine the result.
2) Niahl requests Caitlins OOC permission (consent) before his pose, like
this: Niahl pages, "Id like to toss snowball towards your face, is that ok
with you?" Caitlin pages back her reply, determining if she accepts the action
at all, and whether it hits or not.
3) Players refer for the staff to GM the result. In this example, this might
happen if players agree to toss but for some peculiar reason can not decide
themselves, whether snowball hits or not.
What Niahls player can not do, is simply have Niahl toss the snowball and have
it hit Caitlin, without her permission, posing like this: "Niahl tosses
snowball and hits Caitlin straight in her nose." Of course, no-one can actually
prevent you making such poses, but this is called power-playing, ie. posing in
a way that forces things to happen to other player. That is very impolite and
irresponsible behaviour in a consent-based game, it should never be done.
ICA = ICC
Consent does not mean you are free to do anything you want, subject to above
rules. That is because this Mush is also ICA = ICC - in character actions equal
in character consequences. What this means is that you can not hide behind
consent to avoid RP consequences your actions may have. When you use consent to
do something, you consent other characters to respond with their own actions.
Put simply this: when your character makes IC action, the player must consent
to face IC consequences. Continuing the example above, Niahl should be ready to
accept that tossing snowball at Caitlin may get her ICly mighty angry. She may
immediately walk away, have angry words with him or respond with hostile
actions (even if she OOCly gave her permission happily).
So while your character may request and receive consent from Thanes player to
hit the Thane character, ICA = ICC means that you give Thane consent to respond
to that action. Thane would be in his rights to toss your character into jail
to cool off for some time.
Consent rule on the other hand suggests that when your character asks from
Thanes player permission to hit him, Thanes player should warn the player of
possible IC consequences of that action.
So think first, then do silly things if you want to. Common sense is usually
enough to apply both consent and ICA = ICC rules. The Staff has always the
final judgement of the IC consequences when players are not able to find
agreement. If player refuses to cooperate with Staffs decision of IC
consequences, then Staff may power pose said consequences.
- NEWS CONSENT -
It is our hope that everyone who comes to play on Anwethia is a mature,
responsible adult. Treat others like you would wish them to treat you, and
never **ever** forget the Consent rule. That in itself goes a long way.
However, we are only human. Subsequently the following rules apply to
harassment.
Forms of harassment
Harassment can take many forms, such as intruding on privacy, anger and sexual
harassment.
- OOC Privacy - Respect the OOC privacy of others. Not everyone is comfortable
with sharing RL information; dont dig for it. This goes both ways. Be certain
that the other party wishes to know what you wish to share - before sharing.
- Paging - If someone asks you to stop paging them, do so.
- Anger - Dont use foul language or degrade another player. This includes com
channels.
- Sexual harassment - Paging and/or trying to maneuver a character (either
OOCly or ICly) into TS when the other player has made it clear they are not
interested.
Dealing with harassment
When player feels being harassed, he/she must *specifically* speak out and
state his/her objections for harassment to be considered. We understand
sometimes people do not get along with each other IC or OCC, still we fully
expect all to respect each other.
Players being harassed are to log the situation as it is happening and @mail or
email the complete unedited log to admin. This log must include at least one
request to cease the behavior by the harassed.
When harassment has occurred, the Staff will take steps to assist the harasser
in correcting his/her behavior.
If harassment still continues, the Staff will not be forgiving.
- NEWS HARASSMENT
IC - Liosliath is a gender-neutral society. This includes marriage,
inheritance, adoption, and other laws related to relationships. Homosexuality
is not an issue in society or in law, and is not a subject of general
prejudices. This does not mean there may not be homophobic characters within
the world if such attitudes make IC sense to the specific character. However,
such attitudes would be contrary to social norms of Liosliath. **Note**: Other
lands have not been defined.
OOC - While we cannot, and will not, dictate someones OOC attitudes, we can
and will stress that within Anwethia each individual is fully expected to show
OOC respect to all other players. Degrading homophobic comments in any manner
will not be accepted and will be treated as, and dealt with as, Harassment.
NEWS HOMOSEXUALITY
 Spying - No. Not allowed.
By this, we mean it is forbidden to have locations set broadcast
without a clear OOC NOTE in the location.
In addition - Logging objects (those which log or record poses) are not
allowed without an obvious OOC note in the description. Such objects shall not
be set dark under any circumstances.
- NEWS SPYING
The MUSH policy on Tinysex is, put simply: Get a room.
While TS is not forbidden, but a matter of personal choice and role-playing
preference, we believe that it is not a vital part of in public MUSH life.
For those not sure what we mean by TS (tiny sex), it is sexual acts or
conversations performed online between PCs.
TS in public rooms is *NOT* acceptable.
Public TS is defined as behavior of a lewd sexual nature in a public place. A
public place is a room where you would not ICily need invitation to go. The
city square is public; a characters bedroom isnt.
Any on-camera rape scene, whether in private or in public, whether with or
without consent, will lead to an immediate and irreversible siteban for the
players in question. This is not negotiable.
NOTE: We cant control the level of TS on the MUSH - nor do we wish to! This
said, dont let it get in the way of your public RP. Spending all, or the
majority of, your time in a private room will be frowned upon.
- NEWS TS
Staff will from time to time run TPs ( Tiny Plots), we will make every effort
to involve as many people as we can and who express interest in being involved
in TPs. We cant read your minds, if you are interested in TPs make that
known. If you are involved with a TP, make all efforts to be online and active
when scenes are scheduled. We understand, as you do, RL must come first. The
staff person running the TP will make all possible arrangements to be online
during scheduled scenes or to have someone fill in for him/her - we and your
fellow players expect the same consideration from you.
Players are free and encouraged to run TPs with or without staff involvement.
We do ask if the player run TP will have any far reaching impacts that TP is
discussed with and cleared with staff.
Staff is not and cannot be expected to drive all RP, by being part of this mush
your PC has responsibilities in generating and participating in Role Play.
- NEWS TP
Players will be allowed private rooms; of course, spending all your time hidden
away in a private room defeats the entire purpose of the game and will be
frowned upon.
Any building ideas for public RP must be approved by Staff before you start. If
the project is deemed, by staff, in the best interests of the game then
additional arrangements can be made.
On objects - any object that logs conversations must be made known in the
object description with a OOC note. Such objects will never be set dark.
- NEWS QUOTAS
Characters will be subject to purging within the guidelines below.
There are three classifications of character purge being;
1. A character who has been approved, has been IC and does not login for 30
days. We understand RL may require abscences for greater than 30 days, if such
is the situation the player must contact staff and arrangements will be made.
2. Character has accepted the AUP, has not submitted a background and does
not log in for 10 days.
3. Character has not accepted the AUP.
