APOSTLES
OF THE REAL PRESENCE
Devoted to Restoring the Faith and Understanding in the
Real Presence of
Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist
MASS TALK 1
Turning heads and hearts to Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament by
relating to all
parishioners on how Jesus can help with all their hurts
Good (evening/morning/afternoon).
My name is ............ from the ......... . I would like to first thank
your/our pastor, Father .......... for graciously allowing us to speak to you
today.
The Holy Father, Pope John Paul
II, has a dream. He envisions
Catholics praying around the clock, adoring the Blessed Sacrament and feeling
the great power of Eucharistic Adoration on every continent.
He says, "Every member of the Church must be vigilant in seeing that
this sacrament of love shall be at the center of the life of the people of God
so that through all of the manifestations of worship due to it, Christ shall be
given back "love for love," and truly become the life of our souls.
The best, the surest and most effective way of establishing peace on the face of
the earth is through the great power of Eucharistic Adoration of the Blessed
Sacrament." The restoring of Christ's Eucharistic reign in all its power will have the capacity to
change hearts, souls, individuals, families, society and the very structure of
the world.
If I asked all of you here to stand who are currently coping
with pain and suffering, fear and anxiety, any medical, physical, mental
problems, loneliness and depression, difficulties with children and
grandchildren and on and on… I have a feeling that most people would be
standing. For many of us, of
course, when faced with having to cope with such problems, we experience fear
and anxiety, and most times we do not know where or to whom to seek help and
advice. We forget what Jesus told
us “Come and bring those burdens to me; I will help you with them, I will
refresh you.” Jesus is the
answer. Going before Jesus in the
Blessed Sacrament, committing an hour to sit with Him is the remedy to all your
problems. The answer may not come
when you want it, but Jesus will give you the strength to carry your crosses.
If you have not yet developed a close relationship with Jesus, now is the time to do so, especially when you are hurting. If you visit Him consistently, He will give you the hope, the strength, and the help that you need to cope with your day-to-day problems.
In the book "Christ's Appeal for Love", Jesus tells Sister Josefa Menendez that: "If you seek happiness you will find it in me. If you desire peace, in Me alone is peace to be found. I am mercy and love. How often I have told you that my one longing is for souls to bring Me their miseries! Come ... and let love consume you. The more miseries I find in you, the more love you will find in Me. I require nothing of you beyond what is already yours. Give me an empty heart and I will fill it. Give it to me with all it's miseries and I will consume them. If you possess nothing but miseries and weaknesses these I desire. I beg you to give them to Me. Give them to Me, yes, give all to me and keep nothing, but trust My Heart: I forgive you, I love you, I will sanctify you Myself."
As you leave the church today,
there will be volunteers at the doors who will be giving you a holy card on
which is imprinted a picture of a monstrance, with the words “Do you really
love me, then come to me, visit me before the Blessed Sacrament.”
We ask that you take this holy card home, read and reflect on it, and
when you get home, place it in a prominent place as a reminder to you during the
week to make every effort to show your love for Jesus by visiting Him at church
before the Blessed Sacrament. Kneel
before Him, sit before Him, and share your thoughts, your concerns, your worries
and anxieties, and Jesus will give you His Love and you will be strengthened.
A man named Richard provides these
holy cards. Approximately seven
years ago, Richard was faced with a life-threatening illness, the fear of dying,
malignant tumors in his throat, debilitating depression, substantial loss of
weight, cancer treatments, etc. and things looked very bleak.
Richard began to go to Jesus and tell Him his fears, his anxieties.
Richard sat with Jesus and talked to Him, and he found that over a period
of months, he found that Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament gave him the help, the
strength, and the hope that he needed to cope with his illness each and every
hour of every day. Today he is
still fighting the battle of cancer, but Jesus is there for him and for you.
Today if you resolve to make a
visit to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, you will find the rest you need, the
refreshment, the solace, the strength to cope with any problems in your life.
Your love for Jesus will grow deeper and you will feel the love Jesus has
for you. You will know Jesus. You
will have a personal relationship with Jesus.
Look upon an hour of adoration as
an hour in Paradise. Go to
adoration as one would go to Heaven, to the divine Banquet. You will then long
for that hour and hail it with joy. Take delight in fostering a longing for it
in your heart. Tell yourself, ... He has invited me; He is waiting for me; He is
longing for me.
We are therefore asking you today
to accept Christ's invitation of Love by making a commitment to visit Jesus in
Eucharistic Adoration for an hour a week. You
will find the sign-up sheets at the back of the church.
By making a commitment for Jesus for one hour a week, you will be
blessed, your family will be blessed, your parish will be blessed.
Someone will be in back to help you if you have any questions. Thank you and may God Bless all of you!
