APOSTLES' PRESENTATION AT WEEKEND MASSES TO RECRUIT ADORERS

MASS TALK 3

Good (evening/morning/afternoon). My name is ............ from the ......... . I would like to first thank your/our pastor Fr. ______ for allowing us to speak for a few minutes on Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.  Thank you also Father for "your" faith and love for our Lord in the Holy Eucharist, and the true pastoral care that you show your congregation in wanting them to know Christ more deeply in this great Sacrament of Love.  May the good Lord bless you all abundantly!

Suppose for a moment that your very favorite musical performer in the whole world was going to be in town for dinner at a friend's house.  And suppose that your friend, knowing how much you loved that celebrity, made it possible for you to be at that dinner too.  And not only that, but he has arranged that you could even spend some personal time afterwards, to get to talk to and perhaps even become best friends with this special person!

Well, I have good news for you! Someone greater than this celebrity, greater than a president or a princess, greater than any superstar; is waiting to spend time with just you!  That person is JESUS CHRIST, really present, truly alive and full of love for you in the Most Blessed Sacrament.  And His friend, (your Pastor), has made it possible that along with being a guest each week at the great Sacrificial Banquet which we call the Mass; and receiving His nourishing heavenly Food which we call Holy Communion; you will also be able to spend at least one hour with our Great God in adoration of His Sacramental Presence for some personal "quality time," just with Him.

In her beautiful book, “Christ’s Appeal for Love,” Our Lord reveals the following to Sister Josefa Menendez:  “If you seek happiness you will find it in Me;  If riches, I am infinite Wealth;  If you desire peace, in Me alone is peace to be found;  I am Mercy and Love!   Speak to Me as you would talk to your mother, if she had taken you in her arms.  My Heart is infinitely wise, and knowing human frailty and infirmity, stoops to poor sinners with infinite mercy.  Never shall I weary of repentant sinners, nor cease from hoping for their return, and the greater their distress, the greater My Welcome.”

Jesus Christ wants His people to love Him.  Jesus wants His people to fix their gaze upon Him. Jesus wants us to develop a personal relationship with Him, that will grow each and every day.  He wants to become our best friend!  When you want to get to know someone what is the first thing you do?  You spend more time with them, often conversing with them.  You become closer to someone by sharing your feelings, thoughts, hopes and aspirations for the future and listening to them.  When one person loves another, they want to be with this person whom they love.  This is true for whatever type of relationship one may think of.  A mother and her new born infant, a father and his child, two friends, sweethearts, husband and wife.  Love seeks to be with the object of its love.  This helps us understand the great mystery of our Faith.  If you want to develop a personal relationship with Jesus, you have to make an effort just as you would in your interaction with others.

Mother Teresa said that "no where on earth are you more welcomed, no where on earth are you more loved, than by Jesus, living and truly present in the Most Blessed Sacrament.  The time you spend with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is the best time you will spend on earth.  Each moment that you spend with Jesus will deepen your union with Him and make your soul everlastingly more glorious and beautiful in heaven, and will help bring about an everlasting peace on earth.  When you look at the crucifix you understand how much Jesus loved you.  When you look at the Sacred Host, you understand how much Jesus loves you NOW".

The Holy Father, Pope John Paul II, has a dream.  He envisions Catholics praying around the clock, adoring the Blessed Sacrament and feeling the great power of Perpetual Adoration on every continent.  "Every member of the Church must be vigilant in seeing that this sacrament of love shall be at the center of the life of the people of God so that through all of the manifestations of worship due to it, Christ shall be given back "love for love," and truly become the life of our souls.  The best, the surest and most effective way of establishing PEACE on the face of the earth is through the great power of Perpetual Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament."  The restoring of Christ's Eucharistic reign in all its power will have the capacity to change hearts, souls, individuals, families, society and the very structure of the world.  Every man, woman and child experiences a new effect of God's love and mercy for every holy hour made.  Our Holy Father also says, "Your faith will help you to realize that it is Jesus Himself present in the Blessed Sacrament, waiting for you and calling you to spend one special specific hour with Him each week."

We hope to be able to assist you in developing and nourishing a personal relationship with Jesus Christ by helping you to develop the faith and understanding about the Real Presence of Jesus Christ here on earth.  Jesus loves you very much and is waiting for you to respond in a positive way for Him to come into your heart with His love.  He does not abandon anyone.  It is we who abandon Him.  He waits patiently for our return.  Go, and tell him what is bothering you and place your worries and cares in his hands.  You can thank Him for his many gifts to you.  You can tell him how much you love him.  You can ask him to bless your family and friends, the whole world and yes, your enemies too.

Each of you, please consider spending time visiting with Jesus Himself, exchanging "love for love," for one special hour each week.  Fill in the sign-up sheets at the entry way in the back of the church.

By making a commitment for Jesus for one hour a week, you will be blessed, your family will be blessed, your parish will be blessed, and the world will become a little bit better.  Someone will be in back to help you if you have any questions.  We are also in need of some parishioners to help coordinate and keep the Eucharistic Adoration program going smoothly in the future.  An area on the sign-up sheet is provided for anyone interested in helping as a coordinator.  We also have a table in the entry way with some wonderful booklets and pamphlets with additional educational information relating to the Eucharist.

Jesus is truly present in the Blessed Sacrament, body, blood, soul and divinity.  What a wonderful thing, to be able to be with God, in His Presence, while still here on earth.  This is the means He has given us to draw closer.  Just sitting in His Presence, absorbing his love for you and listening does wonders for your soul.  Spending time in his Eucharistic Presence will enable you to grow in holiness.  Many people also report being healed of emotional and physical ailments while spending time in his Presence.  I could go on for hours telling you about Jesus truly present in the Blessed Sacrament, but for you to really understand, know and feel His presence, you have to go and experience it for yourself.  So again, please visit the sign-up table in the rear of the church, and remember, God cannot be outdone in generosity. Thank you again, and may God Bless you all for your efforts!
