In Silent . . . Loving . . .
Adoration of God

Day and night, Jesus is waiting for you to visit Him. He is really present in all the Catholic Churches in the world. The red sanctuary lamp placed by each tabernacle, or receptacle, in which the Blessed Sacrament is kept, is lit every day, except on Good Friday. The lighted lamp shows us that Jesus is present there. The Blessed Sacrament is truly Jesus, in His Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity.

During your Adoration time, you may kneel or sit, pray the Rosary or other prayers of your choice, or just gaze upon Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Jesus wants you to be comfortable during your visit with Him. Jesus wants to give you His Divine Rays of love, a special love that He has for each one of His children, a love that will make you feel that you are the only one in the world loved by Him.

On the altar, you will see a vessel, or monstrance, which is very ornately decorated. In the center, there is a round glass container, or luna, in which is placed the Blessed Sacrament, Jesus truly present in His Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity.

As you sit with Jesus, think of what He tell us in the Gospel “Know that I am with you always until the end of the world” (Matt. 28:20). Jesus promised us also “I Myself will pasture My sheep. I Myself will give them rest, says the Lord God. The lost I will seek out, the strayed I will bring back, the injured I will bind up, the sick I will heal” (Ez. 15:16).

As we receive Jesus in the Eucharist at Communion at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, we become one with Him. When we visit Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, exposed in a monstrance at Adoration time, we come into his Presence, as one would visit a friend. He longs for our visits and wants to give His undivided love to us. “Our heart does not rest until it rests in Jesus,” said St. Augustine. When we adore Jesus at Adoration, He will strengthen our weaknesses, comfort our afflictions, heal our sorrows and sadnesses, hurts, angers, depressions, fears, worries, anxieties and sufferings of any kind.

Jesus can perform His best miracles for us during Eucharistic Adoration. He wants to give us all that we ask for, provided it is in His Divine Plan for us and our salvation. You might say, how can I be suffering this or that if Jesus loves me so much. That is the time when Jesus loves us the most. When we suffer, Jesus is trusting that we will accept this suffering for our own good and to share in His Life of suffering.

How can we refuse to suffer here on earth when Jesus suffered so much for us, dying on the Cross? Remember, Jesus does not want us to suffer, but He allows suffering sometimes to teach us something. It might be that He is trying to teach us patience in dealing with a difficult person. If we pray for the person that is causing us difficulties, then Jesus may just change that person and make everything work for the best.

Try visiting Jesus regularly at Eucharistic Adoration. Try to attend weekly, or even daily Mass, and see what Jesus can do for you. He is waiting just for you! Visit Him today! He loves you!

JESUS, THANK YOU FOR
THE BLESSED SACRAMENT

Jesus, my Savior, thank You for saving me
and dying on the Cross for my sake.
The greatest gift of God is to believe that You,
Jesus, are truly there in the Blessed Sacrament.

Jesus, please give me the faith I need to feel
Your Presence, to know You are there for me
when I feel lonely or in need. Make my visit
to You one that brings us closer to each other.

Please ask the Holy Spirit to give me all the
gifts I need to be like You, to please You,
to treat my neighbor as You would and to
bring Your peace to the world.

Thank You, Jesus, for the time we spend together.
Let me soak in Your Divine Rays and
Heal me of whatever is not pleasing to You.

                                                                        Amen.

JESUS, HELP ME NOT TO SIN

Dear Jesus, show me that You are truly there in

the Blessed Sacrament. Speak to my heart and soul and tell me the things I need to know . . . because sometimes I cannot understand what is happening in my life.

I want to do what is right, but then I fail. I gossip about my neighbors, about my friends, and I complain about all kinds of things. I disobey my parents and sometimes I am jealous of my friends. I get angry when I don’t win at sports, and at times I am selfish.

Teach me, Jesus, to be like You and to do Your Will for my life. Teach me, Jesus, to be honest, pure, kind and compassionate. Always give me, Dear Jesus, a thankful heart. Never let me offend You by sinning. Then I will know true happiness and peace.

I thank You for my faith, Jesus, and most of all, thank you for staying with us hidden in the Blessed Sacrament. And please, Jesus, give me the desire to visit you often and never be separated from You.

All glory and praise to You, Jesus, in this Sacrament of Love.

Amen

A HOLY HOUR WITH JESUS

In his encyclical “Redemptor Hominis” (Redeemer of Man), Pope John Paul II called upon the whole People of God to make Jesus loved in the Blessed Sacrament and to make the Eucharist the very center of each parish through adoration. He says “Your faith will help you to realize, that is Jesus Himself present in the Blessed Sacrament, waiting for you and calling you to spend one special specific hour with Him each week. By spending one hour each week with Jesus, your sacrifice will help make reparation for the evils of the world and open the floodgates of God’s merciful love upon all mankind. God will bless you, your family and the world for this sacrifice because God cannot be outdone in generosity.”
