Vampirella was the first comic I ever collected.
A planet where the rivers run with blood.
In this first issue from Warren Publishing, we learn that
a drought is causing the 'waters' of Drakulon to dry up.
Enter a spaceship from earth.
Vampi, being the curious little vamp finds out that
humans have the same water that ran in Drakulon's
rivers in their veins!
Vampi just can not wait to venture to
Earth!
Vampirella was first published in September of 1969 by Warren
Publishing. There are also Vampirella Paperback books from the same era.
Warren Vampirellas are not cheap, though.
A complete set can cost between $3,000.00 and $4,000.00!
I started collecting them at about issue #50, and made a royal
pest of myself at the local comic shops till I collected all
the back issues.
There are 112 issues spanning almost 15 years! There is an
issue 113 published in the late 80's, but for all intents and purposes,
Warren Vampirellas were pretty much done with the 112th issue in March of 1983
Warren Vampirellas had a run from September 1969 to March 1983.
In October of 1981, the 100th issue was published with a story on Vampi's origin.
In this issue we again, as in issue one, learn the fate of planet Drakulon as well as
Vampirella's race, the Vampyr. It also tells us that Vampirella has the ability to
change her form into a winged animal.
The original Vampirella story was written by Forrest J. Ackerman and artwork was by Tom Sutton in
1969. Although the original story was written and drawn by Ackerman and Sutton, many others
had a hand in writing Vampirella's stories during the Warren years. One well known artist who
did a lot of vampi artwork was Jose Gonzalez. Personally, I feel that he drew some of the most sexy
Vampirellas ever. Another noted artist who did many of the covers was the legendary fantasy
artist Frank Frazetta. Vampirellas with Frazetta covers are really beautiful. Issue #1 is an excellent example.
There are several Vampirella related items such as posters, models, trading cards and the like, but
the one that really stands out is the 6' Warren poster that could be had in the early '70's for $2.00.
There is an Harris remake, but the oiginals are on a bit heavier paper and do not have the
Harris logo at the bottom. A true Warren poster will have
"Vampirella c 1972 Warren Publishing Co., 145 E.32nd st.,Ney York N.Y., 10016 Tel: (212) 683-6050
All Rights Reserved Printed in U.S.A."
at the bottom of the poster.

If this is not at the bottom of the poster, and or it has a Harris logo on it, it is not the original 1972
6' Vampirella poster. There is also a half size Warren poster dated 1974.
Also, there are several promo posters from the Warren years which were poster like prints
of the covers and were about 20% larger then a normal Warren cover.
From what I can find, there are six Vampirella paperback books from the Warren years.
They were published by Warner Books and written by Ron Goulart. As I said, though
I have only been able to find 6 of these. There may be more.
Warren also published Eerie and Creepy at the time Vampirella was out.
Warren comics, to me, were the best. I was sad to see them stop publishing. If
you have a chance to get hold of any Warren Vampirellas or the Creepy and Eerie titles, you
owe it to yourself to pick them up and read them. The old saying "They don't make 'em like they used to"
definately holds true with respect to Warren magazines.
I am glad to see vampi still lives thanks to Harris!
Vampi will be 30 this year!
Uh oh! Vampi is going to hit the big 30 next September!
I'd bet she is going to just quit counting at 29. C'mon, with those looks Who cares how old this
gorgeous Vampyr is!
This is #3, and the rarest of the Warren Vampirellas!
Harris is still publishing Vampirella, and it looks like she is going to make
it to the big 30! There is a huge number of Vampirella fans all over the world.
She has been published by Warren, Dark Horse and Harris. there are crossovers
with other fem fatales, but the most notable of these is Pantha.

Pantha was originally published by Warren, and was a couple issue wonder.
Recently, Harris offered a couple issues featuring Pantha as well.
I will be updating this site and adding more Vampirella in the future..
