In January 1985 I acquired my first Bernese, Rosie. She stole my heart as they so often do, and her death at a young age spurred me to do all  I can to making life healthier and longer for this great breed.

Living with Bernese in the desert can present a challenge and I am always mindful that we are a long way from the Alps. People wishing to buy a puppy who live in hot climates face special challenges and I am happy to share my thoughts and experiences with them.

My current Berner family consists of five dogs. I exhibit in Conformation, Obedience, and Draft work. Three of my dogs have achieved the BMDCA Versatility Award.

I am a founding member of the Grand Canyon State Bernese Mountain Dog Club. Our club is here to provide support and fun for Southwestern Berners. Visit our website at www.GCSBMDC.org.

I am past President (6 years) of the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of America. I currently serve on the Code of Ethics Committee and am an active supporter of all club events and issues. In 2002 I was privileged to represent the BMDCA at an International Health Symposium in Lensburg, Switzerland. www.BMDCA.org

I am a Trustee of the BernerGarde Foundation, having served in that capacity since its inception. BernerGarde maintains an extensive database of Bernese pedigree and health information and all puppy buyers are encouraged to use it as a resource and to share any health issues with other owners through the database. www.Bernergarde.org
