We are a Christian based homeschool support group who serves the homeschooling families in the NW valley.  It is our purpose to reach out to the new and seasoned homeschooler alike.  Our group’s focus is on Involvement, Integrity, Respect, and Friendships.  We are purposely not affiliated with any particular denomination to show respect towards each Christian member’s’ individual denominational preference.  As a result of the many denominations, it is inappropriate to show disrespect towards fellow members or their belief systems at any home school park day, class, event or on-line.  We desire to create a warm and welcoming experience by providing a fun-filled day at the park, a monthly newsletter, multiple social activities for each and every member of your family, field trips, support for the new homeschool family with new comer meetings, and a yearbook for those families who want one.  Please come join us for our park day at the Sweetwater Park located on Sweetwater and 75th Avenue just ½ mile South of Cactus.

We are a member driven group so activities offered are directly proportional to the activities and interests the members choose to take charge of.  Although the planning is made prior to the beginning of the year, we choose to remain open and fluid to take advantage of opportunities as they arise.  Specific ideas about activities are welcome at any time throughout the year as long as you are willing to be personally responsible for their success by becoming one of the Committee Coordinators and/or Committee Volunteers.

We meet at: 10:00 am to 12:00, at Sweetwater Park.   This park offers: Off Street Parking; Drinking fountains; Restrooms; 2 Covered Ramadas; Playground, and Sports Courts (Volleyball, Basketball).

Cost of Membership: $25 ($15 after January), and starts for 2005/2005 on September 02, 2005 through May 26, 2006.

TYPES OF GROUPS

ALL GROUPS HAVE A PURPOSE AND VALUE.  THEIR VALUE IS TO THEIR MEMBERSHIP.  AS SUCH, ALL GROUPS SERVE DIFFERENT NEEDS FOR HOMESCHOOLING FAMILIES AND ALL GROUPS DESERVE RESPECT.

There are four main types of groups.  Of the four groups, the first is the single-purpose group.  This group has a primary focus (religious focus).  The intent is to keep membership similar with a like focus to allow others a free range of friendships with like-minded families.  It reduces the possibility of friction within its membership.  Ours is a single-purpose group.

Second, is a single-purpose and open group.  This group allows for a single focus, such as Christian, Muslim, Catholic, Mormon, or any other focus.  This group maintains its rights to a single purpose (religious focus), yet is not threatened and even welcomes other types of members.

Third, is a non-focus group, or a totally open group.  This type of group allows for the mingling of any persons who wish to come.  It allows for spirituality to be defined by the individual member.  It requires tolerance and respect for all others members beliefs and the members may feel free to express their individual preferences during park days.

Fourth, is a secular group.  This group prefers for its membership not to display any belief system.  This is to ensure that the membership remain open and tolerant towards all members and to keep any discussions of their affiliations private.  They wish not to have open discussions so they can keep their focus on homeschooling and not a belief system.
