Tandem Project page 2

Well I made a few more changed to the Tandem:

    1. Added a set of 3D link extensions to the washout arms on both the front and rear heads.

These extensions gave me about 5 more degrees of pitch range and should also increase the cyclic response dramatically.

The yaw response also should be much improved.

    2. Added another servo to the aft head for fore&aft cyclic control.

I decided to add cyclic to both heads. I will give the aft head approximately 30% more authority in for&aft cyclic.

    3. Relocated the fuel tank to the center of the fuselage

I noticed in previous flights a definite change in c/g and trim due to the change in fuel level.

    4. Changed the servo channel inputs and mixing hierarchy. (add chart)

I was having some issues with some of the mix programs on my PCM10SX. They would not allow me to reduce the throw percentage of the slave channels.  Apparently only the first 5 of the 9 mixes allow this option.

Currently, here is how my controls mixing is configured.:

I now have fore &aft  cyclic on both heads commanded by the transmitter elevator stick.

Differential yaw to front and rear swashplates commanded by the transmitter rudder stick. Front swash tilts left, while the rear swash tilts right.

Synchronous roll to front and rear swashplates commanded by the transmitter aileron stick.

Synchronous collective to front and rear collectives commanded by the transmitter throttle stick.

50/50 proportional differential collective slaved 20% to the elevator command. (I'm working on this percentage)

And of course, throttle mixed to the collective.
